 ... not sure if its time to change yet,but my truck started acting up today... . stored 2 codes P0122 --- P1693... so im trying to rest things by disconnecting the batts!!!... . if that doesent do it,i may well need to change out the pump unless anyone has a better idea!!??... 158k on the truck, and it WAS running fine... lol... oh well..... i HAVE to get it cleared up before its time to "shove-off" for May Madness '05 at the end of the month... . on "the ole 1-10 scale",how tough is a vp44 change-out????... otherwise,i'll need to find a good shop in Maryland ... . QUICK... . nothin' like being "under the gun"... hehehe

... . any help/ideas would be appreciated... :D ... . tom

I have never done it but I know of a very reliable shop. They are a bit pricey but do excellent work and used to work for Cummins for many years. Called "The Diesel Connection" in Joppa Maryland. Just north of 695 off of Mountain Road and Pulaski Highway. They told me about 50% of their work is high performance stuff.

thanks Phil..... i just changed fuel filter, and reset comp... . got rid of the P0122 code... but i still have the P1693... . but its back to running strong... . we'll see3... . tom

Here's the P0122:

P0122 (M) Accelerator Position Sensor (APPS)

Signal Voltage Too Low

APPS voltage input below the minimum acceptable

voltage.

Usually NOT related to the VP-44...

Tom, Try reseting the APPS... Disconnect both batteries, turn on the Ignition switch (Yes, with batteries disconnected :>), and maybe turn on the headlights, too. Wait 4 hours or so. The Main thing here is to discharge the capacitor in the PCM that keeps the APPS Data "hot". After the 4 Hours, Turn every switch to "Off", then hook up the Batteries. Next Ignition "on", without starting the engine, then slowly press the accelerator to the floor, and slowly release it. That should reset the APPS.

I am not sure how long the codes will stay, but I think it's 20 start cycles

I agree, a p0122 is usually an APPS on its way out. You can re-calibrate it just like Moose00 said. Also, I would unhook the wireharness connector on the bottom of the apps and at the ECM, clean them with good electronics cleaner, air dry, pack with di-electric grease, and reassemble. Then peform the recalibration. This should make the p0122 go away (at least for a little while).
