As a newbie to CTD, 1st gen. , what are the best recommendations for performance improvements for a daily driver / working truck ? It's bone stock, 115,000 miles, will haul light boats, atv's, sleds, etc. Hauling 2500# truck camper and 16' enclosed trailer full of parts, bikes, etc.

93 W250 CTD, aod (yuck), 3. 55 (3. 50 ?) rear end, 265/16 tires. I'll be running in sub zero through the winter and up to 90 degree weather in summer. It'll be home improvement and one driver/owner driven.

I've heard lots about 16cm turbo housing and exhaust/ intake changes... . this is likely where I'll be headed. Guages will be a must too I guess. Any input will be appreciated.

After gauges, I'd say drive it and see how you like it for a while. Some respond to intake and exhaust improvements better than others. AT the very least, get the gauges (pyro, boost, transmission temp; then fuel pressure and tach if desires and finances allow), to get a baseline. Then get the injectors pop tested, and timing checked/ set to the 1. 5-1. 6mm range. Adjust valves. Change ALL fluids. I'll leave it up to you whether you run synthetic or conventional oil. Keep the fuel clean, buy from truck stops if possible. If you can find a used fuel pressure gauge, it will pay for itself in short time, as you will be able to tell if the filter is cloggin up, or you have other issues.

AFter that, do a search- you can find all sorts of stuff to spend your money on. May want to go to an aftermarket torque convertor if you get too high in the HP race (>270hp/650tq)
