What would the opinions be on the best overall rim size for a 35" tire? The best size for supporting the vehicle as well as being air-down friendly when the need arises?

I bought a set of H2 rims and 315's (basically 35's) to beat up in the winter and they work great. It is a 17 inch rim, but a little wider and a little more offset than stock. But, they don't look as good as a bunch of others you could find.

I'm on my second set of H2 wheels on my 2nd truck. I think the H2 wheel is a much better offset than stock for 35" tires, as the offset is just enough that the tires clear the control arms. Stock offset will not allow that. I learned that with my KORE Weld wheels on my '03.

And the pretty bland '07 (you can see control arms are in order, gotta find $700 somewhere):

18's seem to have a ok sized intermediate sidewall. Not super small like a 20 yet not to tall like a 17.

20 is a rubberband tire, looks ok for towing not aired down.

17 is a little to large of a sidewall, IMOP, for towing and great for aired down.

18 is the middle ground. Cause that's what i have.

Why waste money going up one inch on wheel size when your 17s will work just as good as 18s. Go with 20s or stick with the 17s. I really like the look of 35s or 37s on twenties. I have yokohama 315 70 17s on my one ton swr mega and have 21000 mile with at least half tread. I ran them with no lift for 4k and then leveled it just for the right look

I like 18's with 33" to 35"s and 20's for 37's. Love My eagle alloys and ya can't beat the price or the look of a properly back spaced tire/wheel combo.

Here's my Ca Ching shoot!

H2's are the way to go.

I have had BFG 315's on my truck since day one and only paid full price for the first set. She has just over 100k and just put on this set of 2008 H2 tires and rims. I like the factory balance of take offs, couldn't believe how smooth she rode again with the new set-up. Check out my TDR ad for an identical set of '08's. The picture shows stock painted center caps, but I now have chrome on the other side and like them just as much. I can't decide which way to go.
