Thanks, TDR Staff
i asked this in the 24V thread as well. i have a friend with a 02 Cummins who tows often and would like more power (and less EGT's). he currrently has gauges, k & n air filter, muffler delete and superchips programmer. he's not happy with performance or EGT's (as he easily see's 1200-1400F). I recommended 4" turbo back exhuast, EZ box and some rv275's. need opinions?? TIA :D

I run the stuff listed in my sig below - and have the rear wheel power level posted there as well - towing our 24 ft 5th wheel up the STEEPEST grades with the Comp on 5x5. my EGT never goes above 1200 degrees.

I'm VERY pleased with the balance ov my setup, power vs EGT and expected safe operation of my setup - I really don't need any more power - I can top the steepest grades we normally travel at WELL over the speed limit, and usually in OD!

With my mods as shown below and stock injectors, using the boost elbow supplied with the EZ, the max pre-turbo EGT of my 2002 HO while towing our 16,000 lb GVWR 5th wheel was 1100 degF, a significant reduction from the 1300 degF max EGT of the stock truck. With the DD2 injectors, max EGTs are back up to 1350-1400 degF, so I have to coordinate my right foot with the pyrometer reading when towing up steep grades, etc. Smaller injectors like the RV275s would probably be OK.

If your friend has an HO, I would suggest the Diesel Dynamics True Torque Power Module (TTPM) in place of the EZ. The TTPM is less aggressive in terms of timing advance, and the HO doesn't really want as much timing advance as the SO when towing heavy as the HO has a higher compression ratio.

JM2CW

I ran on my 01 SO the EZ, a BHAF and the DD1's, I was rela impressed with overal performance towing 20k gross about 20k miles /yr.

At that power level you don't need exhaust- from Mark chappel at TST.

My gages were always happy, even in elevation. I like to run an ex brake too.

I just did DTT transmission, DD Jammer 1's, Comp in EZ mode, BHAF, and set turbo for 28 lbs of boost. 1100 is the max I have seen pre turbo so far. Tow a 11K 5er and can run in OD on the freeway all the time now. Hills that I shifted out of OD on are now crested easily in OD. Much more relaxing to tow now. Also added the www.solidsteel.biz 3rd gen track bar setup. SNOKING

I ran that Superchips programmer and my EGT went through the roof. I replaced it with an EZ which has worked out well. Next are mild injectors.

Snoking, the person 0013 is talking about is towing a 30ft 5th wheel Toy Hauler, and his 2002 has 3. 54's and 315's. Not a good match for the weight he is towing. Your 4. 10's and stock height tires are a better choice for the towing setup mentioned above.

He is talking about a friend, so I not sure we know about the gears or tires, but love my 4:10 towing. SNOKING
