Ok guys, It's all over. I drove Fred Swansons 24v (around 400 hp and DTT). I know now that I was foolish to bite into that piece of forbidden fruit but what done is done... can't go back now. I realize I will never be able to equal the power of his truck but I want to come as close as humanly possible in my 1st gen. I currently have a stock turbo with the 12 cm hot side installed, 3 1/2" exhaust w/ walker high flow muffler and a K&N. The pump is turned up a bit with stock injectors. Obviously installing an intercooler is a no brainer, but what to do after that? Which Injectors? Pump/motor timing? Etc. I'm not interested in propane/nitrus. Just the most I can get from good old #2.

I pull a 6500 lb travel trailer now and again but for the most part I just want it to be quick. I've searched the archives and have found bits and pieces of info but nothing definitive and all encompassing.

What should I do... What's the ultimate 1st gen setup.

I'll give it a shot. Looking at your signature you have the exhaust and transmission covered. I would change to a Piers modified HX-35 and a 14 cm2 housing for more boost and lower EGT's. The fuel pump can also be turned up internally. I would change to Lucas injectors and some sort of intercooler. I've recently noticed a guy with a F-350 converted to a Cummins who has a water to air aftercooler and is running 370 injectors. His signature states he has 317 hp on a dyno. That would be around 365 hp at the flywheel with a 15% loss. My set-up doesn't have the turbo part or the fuel turned up I had a drag run that put me at 260 hp at the wheels. My EGT's are 1000* range so no problems towing anything. Others may have better/different ideas.

You can look at my signature to see what I am running in my '93. I would go with larger injectors and a new preformance pump. I had Wentland Diesel in Milton-Freewater install a new pump that they built and was very impressed with the power increase. Doug, the tech. that did the work, also installed a BD exhaust brake and had to modify the down pipe to install the brake. The new pipe eliminates the 2 90s coming off the turbo outlet and replaces the with 2 45s. My boost is down about 2 lbs but the truck is MUCH quicker and breaths much better. I also drilled about 10 2" holes in my air box. Good Luck

Happy trails.

Ok. Lucas injectors. Intercooler... I've found one in a local salvage yard out of a 93 with almost all the plumbing for $200. Injector pump... those of you that have had them rebuilt custom, did you see a big improvement over just turning one up? 14 cm housing... I do have an EGT problem... I'm hope the intercooler takes care of that because I've got addicted the the boost this 12 is making.

I had my old pump turned up - and yes I noticed a h311 of a difference including less smoke when I had the new improved pump installed.
