all the air fresheners for cars and trucks SUCK that i have tried

after a bunch of 900mi trips my truck smells like my arse

to many burros i geuss

just wondering a good leave in the truck air freshener

already did the FABREEZE

but what is a good everyday one

WHAT DO YOU USE?

I'm a strong coffee drinker (Navy habit), so I like the smell. Try filling an old sock full of dark roasted coffee beans and throwing it under the front seat. Works for me.

Also keeps a refrigerator from stinking when you have to move it or put it in storage.

Little Tree, Black Ice Scent.

Stays pretty good.

From my old truck driving days, I'll tell you this, if you could smell the air fresheners (Little Tree Evergreens) from the truck when you were standing 50feet away on the loading dock you had it nailed!!!!!!! The trick is keeping the old ones hanging and adding to the stack. My roof vent handles in my Macks were full all the way across. Figured that one day they would get to swinging hard enough to roll the truck over... . :-laf:-laf

Not to hyjack this thread but sometimes I have the old sour "wet sock" smell when I turn on the A/C. In reading the various threads on the TDR I believe it's from mold or etc.

So here's my question, "Has anyone attempted to treat the evaporator themselves?"

Had a Caravan that did the smell funny thing every spring. Used to clear the drain and then turned the A/C on full blast, find the air intake under the windshield and blast it with Aerosol Lysol. Took care of the odor without tearing the dash all apart. Just don't figure that you can get in and go for a few minutes, the fog is pretty thick inside for a bit. :-laf

what I really did was go to a natural foods type store and they sell scented oils the real stuff, supper supper concentrated. I happen to like sandlewood and orange, you can put a few drops on the rug by the heater door or get a little infuser from the store. My truck smells nice even with a wet seat and sweaty leather.

I used to work on a guys VW that produced real Vanilla extract. He stored his bug in the warehouse. It smelled wonderful

I have had this problem with several vehicles. Idle engine and turn air conditioner on with fan on. Open windows, the truck will still smell like lysol.

Spray Lysol Disinfectant spray into the intake. A full can is recommended. The can should specify to kill mold and mildew. I have only used Lysol, but next time I am going to try Walmart's discount spray for mold and mildew. It is amazing and lasted 6 years on my old 90 Dodge.

My daughter sells some stuff called Scentsy that I really like. They have alot of different fragrances for the car and the house. I use the leather one in the truck. They are cheap and last about a month. If anyone wants more info PM me.

That's a great idea, but how long did it take for the truck to STOP smelling like Lysol??

As I recall about a day. Was not a problem. Although the article I read said to spray the entire can. I think I sprayed about half of it. It really solved the obnoxious smell problem coming from the air conditioner. Sorry if we hijacked this thread. I have no solution for those hanging air fresheners. Really don't like them!

I love that fresh linen scent.

Being a whitetail hunter I like the cedar idea. My wife hunts also and I advise her to not use any perfume that will leave an odor in a vehicle. I use rubbing alcohol to keep body odor under control. It's the same active ingredient in lysol and common deodorant.

Please don't rib me too bad for hyjacking the thread as most of my posts during hunting season lead to deer,,,here and on other forums too. LOL
