You are asking for the impossible. Exhaust systems are like fishing stories, they all supposedly sound great, added horse power, gained mileage, and lower EGT's... ... . NOT Look around and compare features, price, and quality. There are many systems available, and most will do a good job. Most opinions are going to be one sided, it's just to subjective of an issue. Also remember this site is like all other sites, while there are many here that offer there advice freely and without condition. There are also many that have a vested interest in what you do, and there opinion may be slanted in there favor.

what about systems on ebay? i've seen some as low as 250--- full boar,forbes, magnaflow, and diesel performance?

I can't tell you, if will be big different in sound with resonator or without it. I installed resonator just to be sure not to have any drone. On quad cab long bad exhaust pipe is a to long and resonate more. But, if you install pinnacle without resonator and will experience any problem, you can always add one. Resonator just replace first 4 feet straight section.

4" Jardine

I installed a 4" Jardine last spring in my driveway, took 1. 5 hours. You will like the hangers welded to the pipes but don't use the c clamps. Get band clamps as they are more forgiving and seal better. I added a resonator way forward to quiet the cab down. DW

Here's what I'd do. I'd take a listen to trucks in your area with aftermarket exhausts. Find one that you like the sound of, ask the owner about the exhaust, and go from there.



Seems like the least risky way to find what you're looking for. What sounds awesome to one owner may sound like a ricer to you.



Myself, I simply dropped my muffler off my stock exhaust and added a piece of pipe in its place, and the truck sounds great to me. When I go to a 4" (for EGT issues) I will pick one that I also prefer the sound of, and I'll determine that by attending a local get-together and hear for myself what the different systems sound like.

With the quad cab long bed, my experience is it will drone (see my signature). Get the resonator!

I have used a straight through muffler,them I added a resonator I still had a drone took them both off added Donaldson muffler as far forward as possible still had a drone. I then moved it back to the stock muffler location it is now as drone free as it has ever been. This is the quietest set up I have found. It is quieter at the tail pipe to, but that terrible noise is pretty much gone. I have a long box quad cab. My system is one of the earlier Jerry Jardine systems.
