Can I directly swap ISSPRO for Autometer boost gauge?

Did some searching on this, didn't seem to be any clear cut answers. Going to be installing new electric trans temp and fuel pressure gauges in the next day or so. What's a good place to tap into 12 volts that is hot only when the key is in the run position.

TST suggests the green wire with a black tracer that is in the harness just above the fuel filter on 2000/2001 trucks. In their picture that wire appears to hang in the air, on my truck the wire feeds into the wrapped harness.

TST instructions are for a PM, concept is the same. You can see the picture at

I think that fuse #5 is for the cigarett lighter. It is only hot when the key is switched to ign. I went to Auto Zone and picked up a tap a fuse and tapped in there.

I downloaded the pic from the TST site and looked at it real close. The green wire with the black tracer appears to re-enter the wrapped portion of the wiring harness, same as on my truck. I might tap into that if nothing better turns up.

JNutter,

I will have to check my notes. I thought #5 was the dash light circut. I am tapped into the fuse panel to power my existing gauge lights. I think I rember that the newer trucks are switched on the negative. Have to check and see what leg has power when the fuse is pulled.

Tap into the Cigar lighter hot lead. It is a 20-amp switched circuit which is great for accessories. I ran this to a fuse block with sepatate smaller fuses.

Number 5 is the dash light fuse, tap into the top side of that fuse and you can dim you gauges along with your dash lights.

Fuse 16 is a spare fuse location. You can run whatever # fuse you want that way as it won't affect any other accessories. It is swithched on and off with ignition. Like others said, just use a fuse tap. Good luck

Try the orange wire I believe to the radio. This is what I used. It's either the orange or the fatter red wire. One is 12v, the other is for instrument lights. This would work for your backlight, too.
Take the instrument bezel off(just pull on it), and 2 bolts pulls the radio out. This is already fused, too.
