Hello all, tried searching, couldnt find want I wanted. I'm Looking at replacing my Michelin M/S (stock) with 285/75R16, and I have narrowed my choices down to:

Bridgestone Dueler A/T

Dueler M/T

Goodyear MT/R

Nitto Terra Grapler

Yokohama A/T

I dont tow very often, mainly highway, snow, ice, some mud.

I cant decide if I want to take the leap to a M/T, I dont really care about the noise (engine:) or treadwear. I think M/T's would look good on the truck, but A/T's probably more logical. I dont want BFG's. Can anyone give me some advice on which way to go? Thanks

I've been searching myself. I decided against the mud terrains because 1. They wear out quicker than ATs 2. I have read that a lot of poeple have trouble getting them balanced after 10,000 miles or so.

There is an online tire store that has customers' reviews of the tires they bought. www.tirerack.com. I wouldn't buy tires online, but this website is useful for research

Pluses and minuses to all the tires you mentioned. In 170k miles on my Dodge I've run most you mentioned. I've got 50k on BFG a\t's. Very strong, long wearing tires but a little slippery on the pavement. I'm waiting for my dealer to get in a set of the Bridgestone revo tires. Suposed to be very good. Latest technoligy, etc. Hope this helps.

I'm going to try the Nitto Terra Grapplers, 305/70R16's. The tire shop I'm getting them from is having a hard time getting them from the supplier. But that's ok, I don't mind waiting because they are FREE!:D :D Oo.

MT/Rs without hesitation

I have never had any problems getting mine balanced. In fact. the MT/Rs ride so much better than the stock Michelins, I'm glad I didn't wait for them to wearout. They even leave less rubber in the driveway. So far, I've put more miles on them then the stock tires, with less wear.

I would never put Firestone/Bridgestone tires on any vehicle that transported people I care about. The only Yokohama's I ever saw have been replaced by BFG ATs. The Nitto's look good for street tire used for light offroading, but goes for any AT tire.

If you do any offroading, MTs are what you want. If you rarely, if ever get offroad, stick with the ATs. If you don't want BFGs, checkout the ProComps.

fyi: michelin now makes their ltx m/s in a 285/75/16 "D" size. if you were happy with the michelins you had, you might want those in a 285 size.

[not affilaiated with michelin - don't have 'em, don't want 'em]

I love my Nitto grapplers, they are not noisy and handle snow, sand and even ice well. I have not had them in mud yet. They did good in a article I read on off road tires!

I've had alot of success with my Bridgestone Dueler A/T (285/75/16).

Nitto Terra Grapler is next on the list but its a ways off... ... I have two new Duelers due to one blowout on the highway a while back (hit somethin in the road).

JoelPry,

I'm on my second set of Yokohama's and really like the performance and wear I got out of them. Put 45,000 miles on my first set and I got about 15,000 on my second now. Like you I don't tow a lot and drive mostly on the highway. The tires are great in the rain and snow and they're reasonablely priced. If you have any more questions please feel free to contact me.
