FASS on an 05??

Edge Comp

Just wanted to know if anyone can give any pointers on the best way to install the EGT probe in the exhaust manifold. Just received Edge Juice w/attitude and want to finish the install. I have heard several different how-to's(run engine while drilling/tapping;use heavy grease around bits;etc) to avoid shavings in the exhaust. Don't want to take manifold off if it's not necessary, but I don't want the shavings to wreck my turbo either. Any help would be appreciated.

The exhaust manifold kind of siameses together at #4 and #5 cylinder. Center punch a spot on outer part of the "log" just behind the bolt for #4 cylinder. The picture on the instructions kind of unclearly shows the location. You can use a 90 degree drill or an 18volt Dewalt. The 90 degree drill allows a hole straight up and down. The Dewalt, due to its size, will make an angled hole which actually alows an improved routing around the back of the engine compartment. Use a greased (disc brake wheel bearing grease is good) 1/8" bit for a pilot and make your first hole. Finish by greasing a 21/64 (someone will correct me if I am wrong) and drill the hole to size. Grease the 1/8 NPT tap and thread it in about 2/3 of its thread length. Now, start the engine and run for 15 seconds. Install the T-couple bushing and the t-couple and run it back to the harness on the firewall, tie it in two spots and run it back to the Juice box.

There are two or three dozen other threads that go through some of the same info, a search for Juice installation will turn them up.

The instructions included with the kit tell you exactly how to drill and tap the manifold. It's very straight forward. RKerner say's it perfectly. You do not have to do any silly tricks like running the truck while you drill or take the turbo off.
