I want to power coat the oem wheels on my 06 sport. The are a cast aluminum wheel with some kind of snap on chrome cover that goes over the factory wheel. this chrome cover has a very very tight fit over the factory wheel. Is this a "snap on" cover to the wheel or is it part of the oem wheel and not come off? I tried to pry off the cover with a screw driver, but no luck. The goal is to power coat the oem wheels and use the factory chrome center cap so I can have a extra set of wheels for the hunting season. Any help with this matter would be great.

Yes they come off but they are silconed with about 10 lbs of very strong super sticky stuff. I tried about 5 different solvents to remove mine but could not i had to scrape it off, even that did not get all of it. I ended up scratching the wheels in a few places and then decided to just paint them instead.

There is a thread with pics of the wheels with the skins removed you just have to search for it. And 3-4 guys talk about how they removed the covers.
