Hey guys,

Did a quick search, didn't find anything. A friend of mine wants to buy a CTD. He asked if there were better years than others. I need your help, experience and opinions. He would like to know what would be the best year truck to buy? He does not want to bomb it, just keep it stock. He will be towing 5000lbs. occasionally. He will be hunting 4wheeling. We do live in California if it matters.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks for the time.

John

97/98 12 valve 5 spd manual, Club CAb (That will give you the 215 hp p7100 injection pump). 96's are not bad either but have vacuum brake booster where the 97 and 98 have the hydraulic brake boooster.

If you want four doors 2003/early 2004 with Common Rail engine( upgrade lift pump they go when you least expect it).

You can check out the buyer's quide found on home page and read all about the different years pro and cons.

California trucks only had a 6 month window for the 215 version,I have never seen one first hand-very rare.

Yes I knew California had pollution restrictions but thought he could look outside of the state for 96's/97's especially in the soutwest/southeast.
