Does anyone have suggestions for improving my 4-wheel disk brakes on my dually? When I have my 4,000 lb camper loaded on, I can't lock 'up. Sure would like to stop 'er a little faster.
All I can add is: my 99 (rear drums) for sure lacks in comparison to my buddy's 01 dually (2 piston front/single piston rear) disc set-up. Try power bleeding the system and some new pads. "Whatever you do, don't go with ceramic pads", I tried that once on my fronts and still haven't gotten the embedded particles out of my nice aluminum wheels The pads only lasted about 10k miles too. twice the price and 1/4 the longevity with the added bonus of a set of wheels that need to be blasted and polished #@$%!#@$%!
It might surprise you to knowvthat you lose traction when you lock up the tires and slide. The anti-lock brakes brakes work the best when you just jump on the and hold the pedal down and let them work. A sliding wheel has very limited traction.
