6. 7-lower milage, emmions crap to break, dpf- sucks to replace $$$$$$$$$,

5. 9- 05-06, had it for awhile not a peep of trouble,

if you really want a 6. 7, wait a few yrs to work the bugs out... .

If your buying used, stay away from the 6. 7, and new, buy the C&C. They are a lot less trouble. Dont get me wrong I love my 6. 7 C&C but that was because I had no choice, I needed the C&C for my service bed I wanted. If I only needed a regular pick up, it would of had the 5. 9. The new 6. 7 trucks are OK, unless its a grocery getter. If I had to do it again it would still be the C&C, but in the 5500 version.

I was just reading your sig and noticed your CTD is a 03, is it the HO? just asking because the C&C has only 305 HP like yours if its the HO and is what the C&C HP is.

6. 7 engines are fine, i wouldn't hesitate. I've seen more problems with 06-07 5. 9's than 07. 5-08 6. 7's. I like the piston design and injectors better in the 6. 7. Alot of things are better on the 6. 7. Problems that might rise with the 6. 7 are the things on the outside, VGT turbo, cooled EGR, exhaust, etc. Fuel mileage will be figured out real soon and my prediction is that the 6. 7 will be better than 06-07 5. 9.

Bone stock to bone stock 6. 7 is 2 sec quicker then a 5. 9 I love my 6. 7 :) and to boot I have close to 15,000 trouble free miles and going :)

The 6. 7 is a better motor in my opinion. The only draw backs are the emissions crap, but if you don't have to be compliant or worry about warranty then you can yank all of that off. Love my 6. 7 especially the new auto and the exhaust brake. Slowing down has never been so much fun.

Legally the CAT, DPF and EGR cannot be removed in most States. However for those of us who live outside of the lower 48 (Mexico and Canada) this is not the case and removal of said item is not against the law but will still violate the DC Warranty. However if this is not a concern or your warranty has expired then the removal of same will unveil a wonderful engine which will last a very long time and return milage comparable to the old 5. 9. The only remaining issue is a sensitivity to fuel contaminants and entrained air, both can be dealt with.

9000 miles and no problems yet on the 6. 7 The auto trans used on the 6. 7 is much better than the one on the 5. 9

the e brake is also really nice. the 6. 7 also has more power than the 5. 9 and is quieter and you dont get the smell or smoke that you get from the 5. 9 my wife hated driving my old 6. 5 GM because of these reasons. I am glad I waited for the 6. 7 the latest software flash is great I get a constant 3-4 mpg gain over previous flashes. I am up to 20 mpg on the hwy and 13-16 around town and 12-13 towing. It's had it's growing pains don't get me wrong but I think they have it under control now. and don't listen to anyone saying you can't idle the truck for long periods of time or the dpf will clog up. Here in the DC area I dont have a choice to not idle the truck while stuck in traffic for hours. I have never had any DPF issues

thanks all for your input. it's been very helpful. i think i'm leaning towards the 5. 9 --i have the 5. 9 HO now and have been very happy with it--almost 300,000 and no serious probs with it.

Hey Yellow Jacket go tesat drive a 08 with the new 6 sp auto and exhaust brake you will deffently love the way it drives trust me . as for problem's naaaaaaaa there shouldn't be anymore then you would have with a 5. 9 But good luck either way to ya .
