Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) better injectors or smarty

My truck has been smoking pretty badly last 2 weeks under full acceleration. Today it got worse and now smokes at idle and while cruising. under half throttle acceleration I got it to "pop" in the exhaust. Is there anyway to test these injectors? or should I just pull them out and replace them? I've worked on Detroit Series 60 Detroits for years, but I have little experience with this engine except when it screws up in my truck. I've changed the engine oil and fuel filters, it still smokes. I disconnected the EZ, still smokes. So my guess is an injector. So, should I drop the $$$ on a set of Mach 1. 6 injectors or just go with a new set of RV275's and a smarty stacked with my Edge EZ? I've got to do this soon, this truck is the family car. Any info would help, thanks. Clay

Sounds like a great opportunity for an upgrade! I'd go with the Mach 1. 6's for sure.

CFast - Did you check for boost leaks? A cracked boost hose will make it smoke like a freight train . . .

yeah i checked for that. Boost would whistle, this makes a popping noise under a load. Power was always good and I could hit 30psi boost still. ordered some RV275's again. Didn't have the extra money for 1. 6's.
