Was wondering, I have a stock '02 2500 4wd auto w/3. 55's. I run bobtail with no load 90% of the time. A load of mulch here, 6 or 8 goats on a single axle stock trailer there are the extent of my heavy hauling. I'm avg. about 17mpg. Is there a higher speed rearend available to take advantage of all the torque I'm not using? mostly flat country roads and Interstate driving. Maybe something like 2. 90 gear? an overdrive gear for the transmission?

With a stock truck, you might want to try an Edge EZ first. I have tha same as you but an 01 and manual... . that heavy hauling and I found out that higher speeds cut mileage. If I Go 75-80, the mileage goes down to 15-17... if I go 65-70 and not push hard, I can get 20. .

The edge EZ is a timing box with a mild boost. it will give you like 65 hp and a lot better starts off the line. plus with more power, you use less throttle for the same hill and higher speed and less time climbing = better mileage

try that before digging in gears
