Anybody know about Forest River Real List Truck Campers?

5th Wheel

Finally got this out on the streets to get some good pics. Had to fuel up the gas tank for the "toy" (my 03 Polaris Sportsman 500) and make sure the propane was full... . Gonna go to the desert next weekend.....

This is a 28' Desert fox toybox. I put a hensley arrow hitch on it and I am in the middle of putting 2 50 watt solar panels on it which it was pre-wired for. GVW for the trailer is 13,500 and at 12,000 that would be my max GCVW. (my truck weighs 8000)

Inside in nice, good wood and nice apliances. has a 4000 gen and a central heating Cooling system. (ducted roof and forced furnace. ) Price was $24,100 after my deposit. chaper than anything else and good value.

This is my hensley arrow hitch. I know it looks unorthodox but it is a dream to drive and believe it or not, the trailer is level TOTALY when hooked up. truck is slightly down to the rear but not bad. Getting the hang of adjusting the Tr. brake booster levels... ...

here is a drawing of the hensley. the green bar goes into a lower box and it is attached to the upper assy. by 4 large pins that eliminate sway and the upper thing attaches to the ball which doesn't move except for up and down axis for driveways... .

The spring bars stay on the trailer all the time so all you have to do is remove the hitch bar from those latch over bars and thats it..... The toybox is such a high trailer I had to make a 4" raise on the towbar to get the trailer level... ...

The hensley unhooked... ... . Notice in the above pics in the last post, the jack is different? I changed the Lightweight POS hand jack there for an electric with a 6" extendable leg.

Example of a right turn with the hensley. The latch over bars are bungied back for storage.....

That's a beautiful setup you've got there, Eric. It's so easy to go overboard any more on trailers; however, it looks like you have all the necessities, without too much gingerbread. I have always been curious about those Hensleys. Please post your impressions of the trailer and hitch, when you return from your trip next week. Most of all, have a blast.
