hello, im having an issue with the egt's when towing my gooseneck. the plate i have in now is some cheap ebay #100 and runs okay with just the truck, kinda lags a little on bottom then around 1700-1850 rpms comes on like a 2 stroke and pulles very hard but so do the egts (the #100 lack of defueling). when i hook the trailer to her it boosts like a champ and the pulls hard but at too high of an rpm and egt. I usually haul for 7-8 weekends out of the year and dont mind a little de-tune for that time, any ideas on a more trailering friendly plate? thanks in advance

I tow with a #10, DDP II's, plus othe mods. EGT's are seldom an issue. When they start getting around 1200 I down shift and get out of the throttle a bit.

It looks like you have a nice setup. I didn't see it in your signiture. Do you have a 3 piece exhaust manifold and cold air intake? My exhaust manifold (after porting) helped the turbo spool up much quicker. Good luck

Well it seems that the majority of the guys here are able to tow well enough with the #10 plate so I just ordered one from Tst to replace the cheap 100 from eBay. JMcCoy, I haven't yet coughed up the coin for a 3pc manifold unfortunately it looks as if one will be needed soon

Hmmm, I see my recent reply did not post. I do have the three piece manifold and wish I had ported it, but may next time it comes off. Also have the AFE II, not really a cold air, but more of it for sure.

Don't really care about a quick truck, but it needs to tow and go dependably.

Some years ago I made one custom torque plate to fit a specific purpose, and called it #100. It seems like someone has made quite a business out of making copies of it, regardless of whether that profile (and power/egt curve) is optimal for others. The copies may or may not be correctly ground. Your needs would probably be well served by a conventional TST torque plate such as a #11.

I'll bring up this old post and say I just returned from a trip to Ruidoso, NM. Seldom get to go anywhere with my truck without the fifth wheel in tow. This time I was not pulling the trailer but had a full load of oak firewood for my friend who lives there.

Running both ways in 5th over most times at 1750 rpms and 73 mph.

19. 3 going there, 19. 25 returning empty. Guess I had better be happy with 19 mpg overall.

BTW, towing the heavy fiver I usually get around 12.

May put the 215's back in and do a comparison.

I hate to bring up this older thread, but I came across it while doing a search on high EGT's. I see the OP lives in central Calif. and may have an engine with the highly restrictive CA intake air horn and the EGR crossover tube. I currently have the same stock intake set-up, and because of the restrictive design, I really have to watch the EGT when pulling a heavy trailer up a hill or if I'm loaded on a grade. Since my truck is now exempt from CA emissions testing, it's about to start the rest of it's life as a non-EGR 49-state truck and hopefully high EGT's will be a thing of the past. I suspect that removing the EGR may help the OP as well.

I recently had my IP repaired by a Bosch shop in Austin. The owner bench tested it with my #11 and recommended his custom grind when he found out what I use my truck for. I have towed 2 trailers with it, but not in the mountains. I tow at 2000 rpm. In the past when I was halfway up a fairly steep hill rpm would drop after reaching about 22 pounds of boost and I would have to shift down. This plate keeps me at 2000 up to 30 pounds of boost. The highest egt I have seen is 1100. As a result I'm pretty sure I'll be selling the #11 that Joe installed years ago. I'm waiting for a job that sends me over the Rockies. That is the real test.

Austin Fuel Injection & Performance Center 512-385-4890 The plate part # is 042130 and I was charged $132 for it. I know, probably too much but comparable to what I remember being charged for the #11. You may be interested in knowing that they also removed the 3k GSK and reinstalled the stock springs because the TQ curve starts lower with them. I do not know how they are adjusted, but I still have 3300 rpm of full power. I also do not know how far forward the plate is installed. The downside is my towing mileage has gone down because I can now power over hills.
