It seems I have a oil leak from the back side of my front driveshaft yoke. There is a plug behind the splines not unlike a freeze plug. I did a search and I am not the only one thats had this problem some thinking it was the seal. I have found no way to fix but replace the yoke. Several different ways have been tried that I have found only to last a short time. BEWARE 2 people that I have found lost most of their oil and crashed the trans. This is on a manuel trans. Auto ? I have called several places trying to find a yoke today with nada (Napa, autozone, advance, Carquest, Dodgeparts.com and more). One of the problems is there is about 5 different yokes for these trucks even using the VIN#. The dealership quoted me $454. 00 but before I will pay them I will J. B. Weld it and try that. A local parts house guy said Dodge and Chevy are the worlds worse for this problem. Maybe they both use splicer. A Local driveshaft shop that only uses splicer said they might could get me one I will have to take mine to them and see if he can 85-150 Bucks maybe.

Call Blumenthals, they are a TDR advertiser. I needed a new yoke for my NV4500 a few years back and they had one in stock. It will cost much less than the OEM version with the big heavy ring of steel around it. I'm not sure why Dodge used that, but it isn't needed. I put somewhere around 500k on that yoke and never had a rear seal leak. That was with several transmissions though.

There were some posts on here about this a long time ago. I think it was for the third gens and it was on the yoke onto the transfer case. One cure was to very thoroughly clean the inside of the yoke and get good RTV silicone pushed done to the end in the inside of the yoke. I did this on my 03 and it worked. My old memory is not so good but I think that there is a cap on the end of the yoke and it leaks. The RTV just seals off the space betweenthe cap and the yoke. Sorry I can be more informative but this should help.

I found a yoke yesterday. A local Driveshaft shop that only uses Splicer products orderd me one about $130. 00. He said the one on the truck was obsolete. The one he ordered does not have the vibration damper. Gary did you have any vibration not using it? He said when he balances a driveshaft he takes them off anyway.

No vibration at all. Since you will have the shaft out anyway it might be a good time for new u-joints and a carrier bearing.

Well got my Yoke and went with Splicer ujoints $7. 00 dollars more than Autozone's or Advance Auto best joint. After I did the install looked at the box. Imagine my disappointment Cross made in China.
