OK guys, I know I'm not the only one with the problem... ... ..... Ever since I installed the BFG 315's my 2500 4dr 4WD has a terrible shimmy in the steering at around 60 mph. Faster or slower it lessens in intensity. Have both hands on the wheel if you hit a good size pothole with any speed!!! What have you done? Change the steering stabilizer? Re-balance?? Need help!!

I still have the stock tires and at that speed my truck wants to wander around a bit too... truck will jump almost a foot in either direction sometimes over the right knida bumps. I think it has more to do with the suspension than the tires.

I'd rebalance. My 315's are as smooth as the stock tires. A bigger steering stabilizer might fix it as well, but that'd likely be masking it and not going after the cause.

Re-balance them. I had the same problem when I orginally installed my 315's. I rebalanced them and that solved the problem.

Fingers crossed... ... ... . I'm going to go re-balance!! I'll let you guys know... ..... thanks for the input!!!!! Logan, UT... ... . you have put some serious money in that truck!! Sounds cool.

mine shimmy after getting balanced and rotated. i have a bad balance also. dont think balacing tires can be done by anyone b/c i have had very d/f results from d/f shops

Thanks guys!!!

Thanks for the good advice! Tire Discounters re-balanced and rotated my tires and the vibration is gone. They checked the front tires before pulling any weights and they WERE off. I think I'm still going to get a heavier steering stabilizer... ... ... . those tires are sooooooo huge they have to wreak havoc on the tie rods and ball joints!!! Keep burning!!!!

Another suggestion

I had 315's on my 95. It took several re-balances to get them to ride correctly. We finally figured out that the center cone they use to hold the wheel on the balancing machine had to be a larger one than they typically use (after market wheels). The smaller one was just a little too small and the wheel wasn't being held true while on the balancer. Once we figured this out, the tires ran smooth as silk.

Mounted them up on my 03 3500. Have had nothing but shimmy problems ever since, balanced them 4 times already and the shimmy keeps coming back.

I've got one tire that won't balance. Moved it to the rear so now only half the truck shimmys at 50-60mph... Very annoying, but I'm used to it, the 31" tires on the old gasser did the same for years...

SHIMMY SHIMMY COCO COCO POP SHIMMY SHIMMY BOP..... that my CTD at 65mph b/c of the 315 BFG's they look to good to take off! The shimmy in not bad at all.
