I got my KO's a couple of months ago and started noticing a yellow stripe appearing around the outside edge of the wheel. The stripe is about 1" wide and is uniform all the way around. It started showing up more as I cleaned the tires. the more that I clean them the worse the stripe shows to the point that armour-all doesn't cover it up. It's on all 4 tires.

It's almost as if BFG tried to cover it up with some die and now it's coming off. Anyone seen this on their KO's? <font color=blue>

Yeah,I noticed a faint brown band on the sidewall of my KO's a couple of months ago(white letters out). The only time I notice it is when the tires are just cleaned(rarely) or tire dressing is put on(also rarely).

WOWZY, I was wondering if you were refering to the faint brown stripe Mike described. If so, this is normal. All (?) BFG Radial Mud Terrains I've owned in the past (over fifteen years) and my current set of All-Terrains have done this. The question mark after the "All" was due to my inability to remember whether I had this happen on a set of 27/9. 50/14 Mud-Terrains I had on a mini truck about twenty years ago. BTW, I have always had the white lettering out. I have not noticed this on my friend's trucks that have the black facing out. It could be it was present and I just didn't notice. As Mike stated it only seems apparent just after you wash/scrub the tires.

I have had only a few sets of BFG tires. All of them with white letters out and have never had the stripe show up on the others.

It did have a brown color to it until I cleaned them these past few weeks,I noticed the stripe becoming a lot more noticable and taking on a yellow appearance. It get's brighter with every wash.

What kind of idiot tire manufacturer makes such expensive tires and have that kind of blemish on it? When I pay $700 for a set of tires, I expect them to be as close to perfect as possible. <font color=blue>

I got mine in March and have put 13,000mi on them, and I know John has had his All Terrains(not KO's) alot longer. I don't use Armour All(don't think John does either),and I wonder of that could be causing the yellow to show up from the brown?

-Mike

Mike is correct... I DON'T use Armor-All on my tires (much less my interior)! #ad

I use either "Rubber & Vinyl Dressing" from Griot's Garage or "303 Areospace Protectant". I favor the 303 as it provides 100% UV protection. Another good product (that was recommended to me by a detailer) is "Tannery". I used to use this although, I've had a hard time finding this product in the last several years. All in all, I like the 303 better than anything else on the market. It also works excellent for cleaning and preserving fly lines! #ad
