1) Take the intake hose off the airbox.

2)remove airbox and end that has the bolt the stock filter screws onto.

3) Install BHAF (intake hose slips over the end of the filter, similar to the newer ones), and hang it from somewhere with zip ties, or try to find a suitable aftermarket set up.

I don't know what bhaf fits his gen1. I'll be honest, I don't know crap about 'em but I like his truck. We made huge progress tonight, his power windows and A/C didn't work and we found a wiring problem based on what I found searching here. It works now! :)

I'm just a lowly '03 owner.

Run while you can. The first gen is contagious. If you are already infected, just look around and get one. Administer regular doses of CB and DPuckett advise along with extensive consideration of other TDR advise and before you know it, you will be OK. D or W, just pick your poison. I say poison as if you think of it, all medicine is poison designed to kill something. It's the engine that's the active ingredient. Why heck, you might get enough out of the 03 to buy a matched pair of first gens.

408k miles on the 93 work horse. 92k on the 93 sunday driver. 280k on the stand by 92. 165k on the just bought 89. A couple of crew cabs that will eventually get a cummins. Three intrepids and one ramcharger. Yep, I have to get regular doses of TDR to fight off the infection.

Thanks, after more serious digging we found it last night.

First, the 1st gen is cake to work on. We rewired the underhood last night, and lo and behold the power windows and A/C work now!

The KDP is next, hopefully we are digging into that soon. We have someone going to show us what to do who has done about a dozen of them.

Yup, what started out as a financial inability to get a newer one, has now become an addiction. When I first joined, they (Piers, et al) were trying to figure out how to get 300RWHP from the VE w/o clouds of smoke and EGT issues. Now they are working on 500 (Old Smokey and a few others I cant name;) ) I still get a real kick out of leaving ricers and 350s in the dust in town. Let's see, my truck weighs 2. 5x (I'll be generous, and give them a 2000lb curb weight. ) what a ricer does, has the same HP (or so they claim:rolleyes: ), and probably has 8-12x the mileage on no rebuilds, save injectors and turbo "upgrades" "My lug nuts require more torque than your Honda (or 350) makes. "

Regular doses of CB and DP advice- yup, he'll tell ya how to break it; I can walk you through fixin it. :-laf :-laf :D :D
