Do a search here for BHAF and find the original 25 page thread and you will get the whole story.

BHAF = big honkin' air filter

The BHAF is a Fleetguard AH19037 air filter which is also available under different numbers from NAPA, WIX etc.

To install it you have to remove the stock air box, and it will fit on the end of the turbo inlet hose. There are 3 bolts that stick up after you remove the stock box and there is an A/C line that needs to be protected. You can find a heatshield template by searching the internet.

The BHAF will improve airflow, and you will probably hear a bit of a different whistle from your turbo (especially if you remove the silencer ring).

Like I said earlier, find the original 25 pg BHAF thread here on TDR and you'll get the whole story.

I had a problem with my BHAF, where it would take FOREVER to cool down after a long pull down the highway (10 minutes or more) I did not have a heat shield so that would most likely help, but I also drive in some dusty conditions across CA, AZ, NM, and some of TX. The filter gets dirty fast and the only cleaning method is to blow out the loose stuff with an air hose.
