Anyone put a BHAF on on 204. 5 yet? If so, what did you use and how do you like it? I've put two AFE PG7's on and they don't fit. Thinking of going the BHAF route.

Thanks,

Jim

I double checked with another TDR vendor and the part # for the 04. 5 is 7510631 and that's what I have. That's what both have been.

The problem is the box that the replaces the stock box; the box in which the filter sits. It's too tall. I took the box back out and measured it and the original AFE box: height 14 3/8" for both. Hood sits up about 1/4" higher.

I was told that when they first started shipping them some were mis-packaged, but this is my second try. That's why I'm thinking BHAF.

Jcarey,

I had to cut my hood liner to fit my cold air intake...

Another way is to put whiteout on the rim of the intake and close hood, and then trim intake metal where it contacts.

someone here did this, where as I just cut the liner

Thanks, Tommygun. Someone did suggest about cutting the hood insulation on another thread. I hate to cut, so I may try to grind the box edge down a bit, as per your suggestion.

I just read this thread where HoofinSoot made his own torque tube out of factory parts:

https://www.turbodieselregister.com/forums/showthread.php?t=112597

I wonder if that's as effective as the AFE torque tube and if you could mount a BHAF on that.

I guess another question is: would a BHAF setup make more or less cool air available?

I chose to cut the noise blanket to make it fit.

Right part Number, wrong box for 325/600s with noise blanket.

I installed the afe intake system I got from Geno's and it fits perfectly. You may try tightening the bolts some in the bottom of the box. It should mash the rubber gromets and lower your box. Also make sure the rubber weather strip is forced in the notches for the clearance of the hood contures.

Billy Ram, thanks for the idea, but I already did just that. The rubber grommets are squeezing out along the sides.

Does anyone know what the height of the box is without the rubber strip, from bottom edge to top edge on the side that faces to the back when installed?

TIA,

Jim
