Hey all, just wondering if anyone knew where I could get a prefilter (sock) for my Fleetguard BHAF. I love the big filter. Thanks.

Ryan

Being extra, ummmmmm, sensitive to cleanliness, I had my wife make up an outer filter for my BHAF out of failrly light weight cotton material. I had used a K&N previously (with EXCELLENT results!), and so used some of the K&N oil to lightly coat that home-made outer filter prior to installation of the Outerwears cover:

And here's the final setup:

Time and miles will tell what improvement it provides over the K&N... ;) :D

Ummm... Gary? Knowing what a clean person you are with your truck, that battery post in the pic looks a bit... ahem... less than clean? Are you slacking off on your battery posts?

-Ryan ;)

[just a little good-natured needling]

UMMmmm, ACTUALLY, what you see Ryan, is the anti-corrosion stuff I coat those terminals with - cuz I *am* such a neat and careful fella... :D :D :D

I *knew* that would be the case, but I couldn't resist. In the pic, it looks like dirt. Don't they make anti-corrosion stuff in a color that matches the battery terminals? :-laf

Well, not to boast, but if you could see it in the picture, I *always* use the Simonize on the battery cases when I'm detailing the rest of the truck - gotta keep things shiney and tidy... ;) :D

Hey, thanks guys for the info. :)

Gary- do you happen to know the part # of your prefilter?

RAMN4EVR- how do you like the S&B compared to the common BHAF?

Thanks again,

Ryan

Sorry, I sure don't - but if you call the Outerwears outfit direct and tell them what you are using the filter on, they can easily provide the right one - only caution is that there are *2* sizes of BHAF filter elements, a 10. 5 inch one like mine, and a somewhat smaller Marine type that is more like about 8. 5 inches in diameter - just be sure to get the size of yours right, and then no sweat! ;) :D

Here's a pic of my install. Mounts like a Scotty2 air filter into the firewall. Its got alot on turbo singing. I thought my wife wouldn't like it, but too my suprise she doesn't mind it at all. As far as exhaust temp go I really haven't seen any difference between BHAF & S&B. I bought the S&B off my son's co-worker for 1/2 price. I think I would stay with the BHAF with the Outwears Pre filter. But I suggest if you want lots of turbo singing just drill a 4 inch hole in the firewall. Plus you'll get some more fresh & cooler air in there. I also haven't upgraded to a bigger exhaust yet, so that might make a difference.

Hope that helps. Gary
