When is it time to switch to a bhaf? if the stock box and filter don't pull the filter minder down when at wot is it effective to convert to a bhaf and why? thanks in advance.

Getting rid of the K&N is enough reason for me. I hated mine. Could never get the box to seal properly. Even with gobs of grease.

Outside of that, unless your EGTs are too warm, it really isn't necessarry to run the BHAF. I gained 1# of boost switching from the K&N drop-in to the BHAF. This was while I only had the #10 plate installed, no other fuel mods at the time.

It's not uncommon for the stock filters to collapse, or even temporarily distort under high flow rates to allow air to BYPASS the filter element around the sides.

Here's a pic of my own stock OEM filter prior to switching to a BHAF:

Note the fine dirt coating at the outer edges of the sealing portion of that filter. The BHAF uses a far more positive air seal, along with superior filtering capability due to a larger filtering surface that allows considerably lower airfow velocity that otherwise can actually "force" a small percentage of finer dirt particles thru the filter material.
