From what I have read at this site the dealer is always going to hassle you for any modification. But that one would be easy to put back to stock before you go to the dealer if you do it right. That way they can't hassle you if they don't know about it. :D

Not sure.....

Legally they can't unless they can prove it caused the problem. That said, they can do, or not do, anything they want and your at their mercy. DC has a staff of lawyers waiting for something to do. Hard to fight corporate america but that's how it is. If your really worried it only takes a few minutes to put the stock box back on.

Here's mine.

In a court of law, you could probably win. The BHAF is made by Fleetguard, and I believe they rate as having the same efficiency as the stock air filter. If you have oil analysis done once or twice, you would then have scientific evidence on your side showing no air filtration problems. The stock air box is probably more likely to leak around the filter, so the BHAF probably is equal or better in protection (my guess, not proven fact).

BUT - if your dealer denies a warranty claim for say, $300, or even $1500, do you want to potentially spend thousands in court just on the principle of the matter? No, you don't, and some dealers will use this to their own advantage. The good ones won't deny a claim if your mod is unrelated to what failed, but the bad ones can take you for a ride.

It all boils down to this: Some of us have decided to make selected modifications, in order to make improvements to our trucks.

BHAF = Fleetguard Part Numer AH19037.

I installed a BHAF a couple months ago and found a 10. 2" steel mounting bracket made for the filter. Part #Q27372 $13. 00. It worked real good. I was able to use two of the studs from the old filter box mount to attach it. If I can get a picture of it I will post it. I also formed a piece of sheet metal between the filter and turbo. Paul.

4" ABS Pipe

Cut into a 6" section and drilled a 3/4" hole for the minder. Then used a pipe to pipe clamp from home depot. The kind with a metal band and 2 hose clamps. It has rubber on the inside so it seals really well. Simple and effective but I think it will be a long time before it draws it in. :D :D

Use the same grommet....

The one out of the stock box. Once you pull the minder out it is easy to get out. Put it in the hole in the pipe first then wiggle in the minder.

moisture damage

today with the winds and snow, my bhaf was covered with snow under the hood, with the wind blowing snow through every little hole.

has anyone had any problems with moisture on the bhaf yet. i worry about snow piling up on there and melting and saturating the paper, and having the paper sucked through the turbo.

Thanks Mark K,

Sounds like a great alternative to oil type filters.

As far as the pic, I was trying to figure out how to put it

under my name on the left side of the post. But it does make a good wallpaper... .

got mine tonite, and installed it. the box said NAPA, but the filter had a label on it which said DuraLite??, and some numbers. Baldwin makes the same filter for those who have access to Baldwin--no P2820.
