Superchip Micro tunner?

forgot shift knob thread size

Since very little research has been done on which BHAF filters will fit on an 03, I would like to try different ones.

So... if you have an old BHAF filter that you have replaced, send it to me so I can see what physically fits the best. I'd like to get an example of each one out there to try.

Then I'll share what I find with everyone.

Thanks,

Blake

I looked at this filter when I bought the one I have now. . as it is used on many of the JD pump. . and gensets... but I didn't like it because the lower holes are next to the turbo... I looked and looked for one that was built the same with the holes on the other end. . but never found one... I have about the same filter as this one. . but it has an opening on the side of the plastic container... and yes. . it is smaller than the orginal BHAF. . mine does not have the metal screan around it. . I have been running this filter for over a year. . and its about time for a new filter. . and I will probably go to the orginal BHAF with a shield...

Edit... Mines a Fleetgaurd...

I'd like to see a nice set up for a BHAF for an 03.

Air flow is a function of engine rpm, displacement, and volumetric efficiency. With no boost you would have:

Cubic inches*rpm/1728=

359 cubic inches*2700rpm/1728= 560. 93 CFM

BUT-- we now have to account for the effect of boost. The above number assumes natural aspiration with no vacuum effect-- thus 100% volumetric efficiency.

If we grant the air pressure at sea level is 14. 7 psi, and we can peak out at 32 psi of boost, then we take 32/14. 7=2. 177 as our correction factor.

So 560. 93 cfm magically becomes 1221 cfm.

Inefficiencies in the engine and breathing apparatus mean that you will never see this 1221 number in reality. But you can know that if you can flow this much, you have NO air restriction from the filter...

There's that equation ... thanks Hohn Oo.

So, if you calculate HVAC's twins @ 90psi ... 3434cfm. Piers twins @ 55psi ... 2098 cfm.

The filter in question looks like a Baldwin PA2805, also Donoldson C085004. This filter is OEM for the 4BT installed in bread trucks etc. Dia is 8. 5" X 9. 5" tall. If that is the filter I would not think it has the flow for a 6B.

The highest flow bhaf is the donaldson at over 900cfm. It is higher than the other ( Balwin/ fleetguard/ napa ... ) has the mesh outer and can be had in a marine with inside screen. No it is not 30$ but you get what you pay for. Do your research.

Donaldson B105006, NAPA 2790, wix 42790, luber finer LAF2531 ALL rated at :

680CFM @10" H2O,

590CFM @ 8" H2O,

450CFM @ 6" H2O.

I have purchased or looked at all of these. Although the label on the box is different they all have the black DURALITE label on the air housing itself. "ECB DURALITE" is a air cleaner series made by Donaldson.

The Fleetguard AH10937 has been stated to have 918 CFM on other post without the "inches of H2O" reference and I have yet to find documentation on it's flow.

Also the Baldwin PA2820 appears to be of unique origin?

others available and interchangeable are: ( i don't know who is the actual manufacturer is)

Ok I did some checking and here's the #'s on the Baldwin 344. 058@6" H20 not as good as I exspected. Im thinking that a few more hole's in this can would step that up some. I sure like the mega cannon. Harv

I had about 8in wide by the lenght of the filter hole cut in mine... I now have have the NAPA 2790 filter in... It seemed like I got more intake noise amplified by the plastic. . and it wasn't the nice turbo whistle... it was the whaaa whaaa. . from the fliter. . Just steemed a little louder with the plastic filter... When I started with the plastic filter. . mine had a 4in hole in the side of it. . instead of the holes at the bottom...
