100,000 + miles on your bombed auto trans?

I have only been a member of TDR for a month or two and see people talking about BHAF or something to that matter. And I was wonder what it is.

It is a semi filter made of paper that supplies more air for us bombers that need all the air we can get. I got mine from Cummins

Its an old pic, before the new turbo... but here you go. .

Go to a fleetguard dealer and ask for a AH19037. Take it home and rip out the old air box, put the little rubber stoppers back on the exposed bolts, run some wire loom on the A/C lines and then stick the filter on the end of the hose. . good to go.

A lot of guys run some sort of heat shield between the filter and turbo to keep the hot air out of the intake.

There are many advantages to useing the BHAF such as free flowing air, maybe a little faster turbo spool up but so small it really can not be called significant.

I have found there is no EGT improvements.

Alot more noise.

It sucks hot air in from under the hood and is right next to the hot turbo and exhaust.

I have to wait longer for the turbo to cool off before I can shut down the motor due to hot air being sucked from under the hood instead of cool outside air, and expecially after towing.

I have changed back and forth many times this summer from stock box to BHAF and I came up the formentioned.

I am putting the stock box back in for good until I fabricate a shroud to go around the filter and can suck air from the outside.
