Texas Based TDR

Pull this weekend in loveland CO, Sunday

It was a long day Proram and I hit the road at 4am I got home at 9:30pm. Dodge/Cummins & MD-TDR had a big showing. Thanks to Dave D for getting this started. And a big THANK YOU to all that made the long and short drives to come to this event. :D

Now some things that amaze me someone would tow a 35' TT for a day then drag race all day and do very well, hook up to the 35' TT and tow home "Steve". You don't see this on TV.

Stack'd-n-Jack'd with the track side pit crew 4 tire change in no time just to go "to fast"

Someone had a lift pump go out Tom "Black Mountain Diesel" had a spare on hand = lift pump fixed at the track :D

Every one from Mason-Dixion TDR that made the show even in a rental car Doug. It was good to see all of you, the cook out's and the truck show were a big hit on top of all the burnt rubber Oo.

Hope to see you again soon

Cliff

P. S. I got to take home the "Judges Choice" trophy after the show :--)

I want to say to all that attended that it was great to see/meet all of you!!! A special thanks goes out to the unkown memebr that bought my son Zack a burger for lunch (he never could tell me who did that) but it was very generous. This just goes to show you how great all the TDR members are.

I am looking forward to many more events with all of you!

Doug

great time

Too fast? Is there such a thing? I had a great time, I do wish I would have spent less time changing tires and more time visiting! What an impressive turnout! You guys sure know how to make a feller feel welcome! Thanks to everyone there for making this past weekend a big success. (including Mother Nature;) )

I had a great time as well ... . thanks to wiredawg for bailing a bunch of empty tummys out! Great to meet a bunch of you!

I had to leave early before the final runs ... so ... . Eric ... how did you do?????

Keith

I too had a great time!

I never saw the point in driving straight for a 1/4 mile, but have to admit it was alot of fun, and a good learning experience - I'll do better next time.

Thanks to all for your hospitality at my first TDR event.

Drew

What a great day!

First: Thanks Dave D for organizing this. It was first rate!

Second: Nothing like the great smell of burning rubber, burning burgers and diesel! What a turn out: 31 Dodge Rams, a couple of Ferds and one poor souped up Duramax. The Dodges kicked a$$.

Third, on top of the great folks in the MD-TDR, we had special guests from the GL-TDR. Nice trucks and way to run.

And finally, the ladies and kids seemed to enjoy all the activity. What a great family event.

So, Happy trails everyone and see y'all on the flip-flop.

I too had a great time. Great to see the MDTDR gang again. First time at a drag strip. Pretty cool. Eric and Tom, Good meeting you guys. It's nice to put faces to names. Eric, you have an awesome truck. Had a bunch of non-diesel folks in the stands talking about you.

Cliff, congratulations on the trophy. Dave, Thanks for hanging in there after last years dismal turn out. Wiredawg, Thanks for the food. You and Viv know how to entertain. That's for sure. See you at the next one. BTW who's going to Thunder in Muncie? Might try to make that one.

Tom

Great Weekend,,,,,,,,,,,

We also had a great time meeting folks and putting faces to the names. All you folks driving diesel Rams would have been proud of the guys who took their rigs out on the strip and had the comments in the stands flying,,,,, like "Man, them Dodges are kickin butt" and "The Fords haven't got anything to match the Dodges" and so on! :D :D

Thanks to everyone who had anything to do with making this a great weekend. We will be back in September for the next one! :D

What a great time with everyone and what a turnout! :D I didn't get home until about 3 hours ago (6:30 pm eastern on Monday). With the storms moving through and the winds, etc it was just a bit hairball pulling the trailer home yesterday. Decided to be smart and pulled into a KOA in lower PA and spent the night there last night and finished the drive home today. After I heard about the tornadoes on the radio today I was glad I made the decision I did. I also saw a number of overturned semi's on the drive home today that they were still cleaning up.

I also had an interesting time sunday morning leaving the campground. When pulling out I was getting a banging that I could feel through the floorboard of the truck. Neil (who rode with me) and myself both thought it was a truck problem (u-joints or trans mount, or . . . . . ). We ended up unhooking my trailer, put the rear end on jackstands and running it - didn't see anything. Drove it up the road unloaded and had no problem (driving easy). We decided to hook Tom's truck to the trailer (to limp to a parts place) and when he started rolling the SAME thing happened! It ended up being the friction sway control - it was binding and causing a pop that could be felt in the floorboard!! Never would have guessed it was coming from the sway control - that delayed our departure by at least 2 hrs. BTW - thanks for not abandoning me guys!!

TKOBI - really sorry about your trans troubles, that was the major bummer of the weekend, sure wish I could have helped in some way.

Great Time. Bad Lift Pump.

Good evening

I was the one changing the lift pump in the parking area.

Here is the story, we ran up to Bowling Green Va. pulling a 5er with 9/10 PSI pulling and 13 at an idle, on the fuel gauge on Friday. Sat. morning stoped at a quick stop for my morning Mt. Dew, I get back in my truck my son says to me is the fuel pres. suppose to be that low. 4 PSI at an idle.

:--)

I was not a happy camper from then on.

We went up the Budds Creek with Wes and Dennis and wives. The word spread very quickly that I needed a lift pump. Tom just so happen to have a new one that he was installing on his truck. He warned me that the one he was taking off, only had 3 PSI at WOT. Keep in mind I only had 4 at an idle.

Tom and his son Will hooked me up with the new (used) pump.

I had it installed in about 45 minutes. Cranked up my truck and the needle went to 14 PSI at an idle. My out look on life instantly improved. On the way back to N. C. poor Wes and Dennis had to hear me say" Fuel pressure is a good thing" over and over and over..... :D

My lift pump never acted up prior to the 27th. I will have a spare pump riding under the back seat, real soon.

Thanks again Tom.

I had a great time from then on I saw school bus races, beer truck races and of course all the big rigs.

That is the most CTD I have seen so far. It was great seeing the faces along with the names.

See Ya next time.

Chris

It was a delightful weekend. It was fun watching Steve, Eric and Ted spank some of the competition. Of course, the guy Steve lost to was sandbagging. It was astounding watching how fast both Eric's and Ted's trucks zipped down the track. Dan's truck is no slouch either. And Briar Hopper and all the others who raced. No, I didn't race mine. I didn't want the crowd to fall asleep waiting for me to reach the end of the 1/4!

Of course, the usual TDR-like things went on. Food and drink were handed out. CRuD's lift pump died; I jokingly told him Briar would give him his. Little did I know! Later, Briar unbolted his and gave it to CRuD so he could get home. (Tom did, of course, have a new one he was going to install sometime anyway!) I pit-crewed for Steve and Eric, helping them with their tire swaps.

Saturday evening, we convoyed down to Massaponax to the campground, where we drank, review the video, ate, drank, commiserated, drank, reviewed the video again, talked, drank, swapped personal epithets, drank, and had a generally grand time under the awning whilst it rained all about us.

It was great meeting the area TDR members, but there are too many names! I'll have to amble on up that way from time to time when MDTDR have get-togethers.

Many thanks to Steve for sharing his mobile home. (That thing is *huge!) I had a grand time, and am looking forward to Muncie.

Great day....

but a long one. I got up at 2:30 a. m. and didn't get home til 9p. m. ,and somehow messed up my right knee,BUT it was worth it. I don't know what I did to my knee, probably from jumping up and down off the back of my truck polishing those stacks ;) :D . It was nice seeing people I've already met and some and some I haven't. It was outstanding watching stack'd-n-jack'd run a 12. 9 in a 7,000 lb truck, hey they ain't s'posed to run that fast :--) . I just want to say thanks to Dave D and eveyone else for getting this thing organized,to tmacc for fighting traffic on the way back on 495 to get me headed in the right direction,to Iceman(hope you're back is better)Ed,and Greg for the company on the way down. And to Steve and all the others who traveled greater distances than me to make this one... . Doug

p. s. I ran a 15. 97 during 1st round eliminations(broke out)after the guy in the other lane's girlfriend started flashing me. I guess she was trying to get me flustered:rolleyes: . Not bad for rowing gears;) .

My weekend lasted even longer than most... I just arrived home from Cleveland, Ohio, after two days of intensive training at Perma-Tech Spray-In Bedliners Corporate headquarters... . that's right, we drove straight from Maryland to Ohio on Sunday... .

It was great to see so many MD-TDR friends at the Big Rig Nationals, and to make new friends, I regret not having had more time to talk to everyone. The track sure packs a lot of action into one day...

Chris, we probably both would have been better off if I could have given you the new pump, instead of drag racing immediately after installing it, and blowing out that one, now it's no better than the old one. Time for another trip to Cummins, the new one will be my 6th pump... . Yes, I know it's dumb to run a stock fuel system on a BOMB'ed 24 valve. I have a good reason for having put off upgrading this long...

I have negotiations in the works for two fuel systems for the 24 Valve trucks, from two separate engineering sources, and hope to market at least one of them through my shop, after testing them on my truck. No promises, just high hopes.
