Hey Y'all - Especially the TDR Members in New England that know BigDig and the modifications he's done to his truck. He is currently stuck in Virginia, ON HIS HONEYMOON, and needs some help diagnosing some troubles. While cruising at highway speed and ease off the throttle, it feels as if the engine is idling up and down, although the tach doesn't move. Then if you hammer the throttle it takes off fine. There are no obvious problems looking at the guages. His most recent modification was switching to DD3 injectors, however, he still has a stock clutch.



He's planning on seeing a dealer in the morning. If someone could call him with any suggestions or assistance that would be awesome.

I'm on it. He's 20 minutes from me, in Troutville.

He's got a slight pulsing in the engine at about 2200 RPM, no load (no load, meaning stopped in neutral revving the engine, or in 5th or 6th on the highway, foot on the pedal, but 'coasting'). The pulse is very short and has about a 1 second cycle time. It's an '01 6 speed, 4. 11, with the 60HP Edge box.

I dunno. My first thought is the Edge box, since the pulse is so regular. I doubt it's the APPS, or the VP44, ECM, PCM or lift pump. But, as I said, I dunno.

He'll be calling Scott first thing in the morning. If Scott says drive it, he and his new wife will be hitting the road and getting to their honeymoon destination. Otherwise, they might be here for a while, in which case I'll entertain them with stalking anecdotes, the life and times of a money-grubbing hippy and other diesel favorites. :)

Picture this, BigDig is driving around in a flaming red Dodge Neon. Yup, he's draggin ass and looking up at everyone around him at red lights. The green monster dually mothership needs a new injector pump. He says the Tennessee dealer he brought the truck to is going to replace the pump under warranty.
 
Oo. WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOo. Got the truck back,that freekin neon is a coffin,glad to be back in my rig. The dealer was great,JIM COGDILL DODGE,KNOXVILLE TENN. Either the mechanic didnt see my DHRA hat I was wearing and all the performance stickers on my side window(or did he)but the never gave me a problem. The service guy asked if I ever did any type of modification to the fuel system,but as he was saying it he gave me THE LOOK... so I said no,nothing just the air cleaner and exhaust... . GOOD ANSWER he says,I'll have it back to you tomorrow... . Well a big thanks goes out to all for the help,Gorilla for the relaying of the post since I had no computer access,Fes3er for the time he took to drive out to help figure it out,and to Massdiesel for helping out. Now she knows why I joined the TDR. The honeymoon was great,the best part was relaxing in the big cuzzi with a 6 pack,a cigar oh and my new wife... ... I never knew that a set of Dcups could float:D . I,m just in work to get my checks and check my mail,then back home for the night,so I'll return Friday and send out more . . Thanks again everyone for the help.
