Does anyone know what size tires you can put on an 2003-3500 QC 4x4 SRW without them rubbing? I have a 2" leveling kit ready to install but I don't know how big of a tire I can shove on there! I read some guys on here have 315/70/17's on their trucks but haven't found any info on whether they had to modify anything to get them to work. Any help would be great.

P. S. First time Diesel owner, and WOW, didn't know what I was Missing!!!!!!!Oo. Oo.

TIRE SIZE

THE BIGGEST YOU CAN GO IS 33X12. 5 WITH OUT A LIFT. ANY BIGGER YOU NEED TO LIFT THE TRUCK.

THE SIZE CHART IS IN THE NEW ISSUE OF 4WHEEL

HOPE THAT HELPS

Mag charts

are a conservative ballpark at best. The other forum clearly spells out 315/70/17 BFG all terrains fit without a problem. Mine will be here in a few days. I may bolt up a 37" Krawler to see what it looks like (actually measure about 36. 6)

Rockcrawler & scarlton,

Hi guys! Rockcrawler, what wheels are you using? I'm planning on the same tires, but not sure the alum. wheels I'm thinking of ordering (when I order truck) will work. Scarlton, what gear ratio are you running w/ your pro comp tires? How do you like thim? I'm trying to decide on mud tires now & may put them on first & AT's later when it dries up some. Think I've diecided on 4. 10's , but still getting conflicting advice!!!???

I have 3. 73's and I like them but there are times when hauling farm equipment that I wish they were a little lower but if I had to do it over again I would still go with the 3. 73. As for the Pro Comps, I would not buy them, they are very rough. The only reason I bought them is because I couldnt get BF Goodrich M/T's at the time. I have ran 3 sets of BFG M/T's and they were much smoother. My next set will be BFG M/T's. But I think you will enjoy 3. 73s better especially if you are getting a 6spd.

I saw that chart in the magazine, what a load.

As the FAQ says :D, you can put a 315/75R17 on with no rubbing issues on a stock SRW truck. That's approximately a 35" tire. Lots of us are running the BFG AT 315/75R17 on the stock rims.

Production Krawlers out...

but getting them is another story- the first batches were pulled for comp teams- that's how i got mine. I suspect March 15ish they will be flowing freely- as of now i only know of the milder weight ratings- 2800 or so which technically would cover us.

I plan to run the tires on the stock 17x8 aluminum wheels.

The 4. 10 with a 35" tire is = to the 3. 73 with a stocker. I wish I had the 3. 73's but I'll survive with the help of taller tires.

Rockcrawler,

I would be interested in how the 37's fit, if they do. I was thinking of going to the Goodyear MTR in LT37 12. 5 17E. I'm think the width might be OK but not sure if it will work at that height! Anyone have any idea's??

I'm running 325/60/20 Nitto Terra Grapplers with a 2" lvl kit. Nitto's website says the tires are 35. 12" tall. They fit but I do get a slight rub when I turn the wheel as sharp as it will go, but nothing major, I can live with it.

I went with 315's, BFG AT's, got 39k out of them, about to replace them with another set. I've never gotten more than 28k on three other sets of tires with my 01 2500.

I have 315's and I ran them for 20,000 miles before i ever put any lift on my truck and never once did they rub, and yes I have done some major offroading (elk and deer hunting in Northern New Mexico and deer hunting in Texas. I put the lift for the look not because of tire rub. I hope that helps you out.

I'm running BFG 285/70/17 on my truck. No rubbing issues or issues at all. Looks good. I also have run 33x12. 50x17 Mickey thompsons for about 500 miles. They are good too. I prefer the BFG as they are a little taller and a little narrower than the MTX. I do have those Mickey Thompsons for sale... . great deal. .

315/70/17

I just put the 315/70/17 BFG ATs on American Racing 17x8 Pythons yesterday. No Rubbing... the stock aluminum wheels will not rub either. Steel wheels may rub since they are a little narrower (not sure about backspacing and offset?).

Thanx for everyones input! Just got my gauges today so that will be this weekends project. Then the exhuast brake and tires after that!
