Anyone know of a transmission cooler that is bigger than stock? What company sells and how much more flow, if one is manufactured?

JE, Are you aware the transmission fluid and coolant exchange temperatures in a

(at least thats the case on my '96) outside the radiator. This can cause problems if you live in a moderate to hot climate year around. What I did to reduce my temps in both transmission and engine was to mount an aux. cooler under the bed of my truck.

I bought the cooler from a local Off Road Warehouse (So Cal Co. ) The unit is a Derale stock # 15800 w/fan "electra-cool" by name. I added a 180 sensor w/ an override toggle switch in cab (painless 4/3 circ from Geno's). I have several extra correct fuse block splice adapters available if needed, Painless include the wrong size splicer. Anyway, I built a bracket and grid to mount and protect the cooler, cut and flared transmission return line and ran 300 temp degree hose to cooler and back (buy the best hose you can find). It added one qt to my system and everything runs from 140+- to 185max on the transmission. Engine temps run up to 200 when towing/pulling grades. I was seeing 200 degrees on my rebuilt transmission and 220-230 when pulling/towing (11K 5thW) 6-7% grades in 100 degree temps. Good insurance on these be-be proof trannys. HA! Good Luck!
