I am looking for the tallest dually tire for the 16" rim. i am only worried about rear contact of tires, i have the lifted springs.

I did a search and 255/85R16 was used on a first gen however he is no longer a member so i cannot talk with him:mad:

I know the 00 or 01 and newer have a bigger offset rim something like . 2" difference is what i roughly figured.

I want to know if these will fit? if i run a 1/4" spacer between I think i can other then the dang dimples.

Also what kind of mileage are you getting out of your tires? what you running, type, size? I really would like a meaty thread, but need to get a reasonable amount of mileage out of them.

JLAST,

I run a 255-85-16 on my dualley and I like them, I did go with a spacer in the rears (1 1/4"), for some additional room between tires. I have BFG mud tires and they are supprisingly quiet, ride smooth, and seem to last a good long time. I see know reason why they won't last 45-50 k miles. I am getting ready to purchase a new set (these will be my summer tires, and the BGF's will be mounted for winter), I am going to run ALCOA's LTD wheels and probally go with TRXUS MT'S AND SAY A 285-75-16. If you just do the math you will figure out the amount of overdirive you caused (right at 10% in my case, I also varified this with GPS). I like the bigger tire look, and the extra 10 % od is noticed, I also have 4:10 RP.

I just put my 2nd set of 295x75x16 bfg a. t on. I have the two inch wheel spacers installed with no clearance problems, these tire will go 40,000 easy i use my truck every day hauling my gooseneck trailer and grade tractor, the only thing is you have to watch your air pressure when running these wider tires to keep from wearing out the centers hope this help. Jason

It was a tedious process but I went on the internet and found tire manufacturer sites where they showed the specs of every tire.

I ended up with 235/85/R16's, Load Range "E", with a 32" diam. It increased my top end (I have 4. 11 rear) by about 8mph (77 to 85) and I'm pretty happy with the new speeds at gear shifts for heavy towing. I didn't need spacers. Had a problem with the speedometer being off but I had the speedo gear changed to read true.

I'm not saying this is the best solution, just my 2 cents on what I did. :) :)

hey guys. adding a wheel spacer in the rear doesnt cause any problems? also, where can u get rear spacers for our trucks, i know u can get them for cars with ease, does it go the same for our trucks too?

hey guys, where did u get those 1 1/4, or 2 inch wheel spacers? and i would imagine u needed new studs with that upgrade too, correct?

You can get the spacers from national tire and wheel in any of the 4 wheel drive magazines i run the 2in spacer and if you run anything less than a two inch you have to swap studs to shorter ones, because your original studs will stick out past your spacer not allowing the outside tire to sit flush. RGT, Mine are:

Firestone Steeltex Radials R/T M&S,

235/85/R16's, Load Range "E"

With your "tall" 3. 54 rear ya better turn your hat around backwards on the interstate. :D :D
