I would like to hear all chime in with you own numbers or pictures of the biggest or heaviest loads hauled with the 3rd gen.

I am talking about combined wieght of truck trailer and load.

So far for me her ya go

27,362 lbs total weight with half a tank of fuel, me, gooseneck trailer, truck, and loaded with steel pipe racks and bentonite chips.

Lets see who can take the gold we have to have some one who pulls around 40,000# lbs total

all input is encouraged

04 quad cab 3500 with duals, 6 speed... stock except for a PacBrake exhaust brake

I took a comerical load to Edmonton Canada last week... ...

I had to scale as I crossed into BC and on to Alberta... . The BC govt requires a comerical permit and weight... ...

The permit this trip was for 16,000 KG... . or for under 35,200 lbs.

The front axle had 2260 Kg = 4972 lbs

the rear axle had 3410 kg = 7502 lbs

and the trailer axles had 10,200 kg = 22,440 lbs

for a total of 15870 kg = 34,914lbs

The trailer is a custom built tandem axle tandem wheel trailer with disc brakes... . each rated at 12,000 lbs... The best axles and brakes we've ever used... no grease for the bearings as they run in lube oil... .

The exhaust brake held the load on the 6% grades when I got into the correct gear at the top... 4th or 5th depending on the speed... ... .

This is the best truck I've owned to date..... I'm going to trade off a couple of the Fords that I have and buy another one after the first of the year... ...

I had a load of 600lb steers in a 24' stock trailer that weighed me in at about 27k. I was glad i didn't have to go very far because it was too much pin load for a 2500.

One of my best friends has a 2003 1ton dually with the six speed. He received an urgent phone call from a friend who needed his 555 crawler moved or it would be impounded. He pulled the tractor on the float off of the factory rear hitch for 8 miles. He said he could not get the truck to go over 45 mph and had virtually no breaks because he could not get the trailer plugged in.

I guess that tractor weight to be about 12 ton = 24,000 lbs

I guess the trailer weight to be bout 2 ton = 4,000 lbs

That means he had about 28,000 lbs off of the rear factory receiver.

Total weight to be about 36,000 lbs

13,000# 5th wheel loaded with enough camping gear for about 20 people, plus firewood in the bed, 4 people, full tank of fuel in a 4 door 4x4 dually, est around 25,000# total, going to lake Commanche, and the trailer brake controller took a dump half way there!!!! No problem. This thing never ceases to amaze me. With that load at 65mph overhead read 12. 5!!

How about a 140,000 pound Cat 777D mining haul truck? I have the DC video of the 04. 5 Ram/Cummins 600 pulling it with a big nylon strap. The pull was on dirt and you could see all 6 tires of the Ram were working. No more girly 42,000 pound sleds for these boys :D

I had a tractor trailer in my pipe yard today that totalled around

70,000 lbs loaded with ductile iron watermain pipe that got stuck

on the ice and snow, hooked up the cummins to it with a 40,000 pound tow strap and gave a couple yanks and got it moving enough to get out on its own. Otherwise the guy would have had

to find something bigger than my forklift to pull it out and would have cost him more than just a couple of laughs. :D

Looks like the cummins and dodge have got this whole " like a rock" thing beat hands down:D :D

Can't top some of these. Most I've had on weighed on a Cat scale was 31,700, which is 500 more than our company will allow on my truck and trailer. 16k max on mini-floats, I had 16. 5 on. Normal gross wts. are between 22 and 30k on a daily basis. This truck will go over 100k miles this month or the first part of next month. No major problems and it pulls these wts. daily.

39K (calc)plus almost every Sat and Sun

One of these days I will take a picture - when I wash my truck and trailer. I did have my truck and trailer weighed with certifed scales - Truck with 5/8 tank of fuel = 8100 with me and my dog - trailer = 8730 empty = 16,830 total = now for the calculations - 18 4 by 6 round bales at 1250 lbs each = 22500 plus 16830=39330 lbs.

I don't believe these bales weigh less than that, even though some might argue. Someday I will weigh them to see for sure - either way - I normally put 18 bales on because 20 bows my trailer too much - most people hualing round bales do haul 20, but not the ones I haul.

If you are looking for the truth about what these trucks will haul - keep up with EB who posted on this thread - he does make a living withing with his truck and really puts the miles on.

Also, keep an eye for my post on the Engine and drive train forum. On my previous 2500 (2002) I would haul 16 bales - the steering was worn out at 65K and the front bearings in the 5spd had to be replaced at 55k. So I bought this truck. I have about 45k on it and I think the clutch is going fast (it chatters like ?!?! at low RPM when I take off) and the rear end seem to be going out. Of the 45k miles 24,800 are pulling - half of those are loaded and half are coming home empty. I would hate to think what some powerful mods would do to my drive train under these conditions - so I will probably stay mostly stock.
