Guys I am wanting to put bigger tires on my truck and was wondering what the biggest that you guys have gone with on the factory wheels. Would like to figure out wether I need to buy wheels as well if I want 315's/35" tires. Thanks in advance, Stefan.

I got a buddy that runs 315/75R16 Big O's on his bone-stock 2001 2500 reg cab. Truck has the plow prep pkg and the camper pkg, FWIW. Looks good and he likes it.

It depends which wheels your truck has. The stock steel wheels are a 16x6. 5 size and definitely not recommended for a 315/75-16 tire. The stock aluminum wheels are 16x8 and a great fit for that size. Hope this helps.

Stefan-

You should check the manufacturers recommendations for the tires you want. The tires may fit OK, but I have seen tire stores void warranties if the tire/wheel combo doesn't fall in the specs. BTW, which stock wheels do you have? 315/75-16 are OK on 8" wheels, but they pull in the sidewalls quite a bit on anything smaller. My 2 cents, hope it helps!

315s on the factory alum ('00 2500) wheels no problem. You could always try the Michellen XZL(?) like on EarthRoamer - 36" OD on a 16x8 wheel.

While were at it , what is the biggest tires for the 97's. The stock tires I believe are 215's. On the 2 WD the problem I see is the fronts are close to the rear inner well Thanks RJ

Stefan...

why not just go with a set of Go-Kart wheels? I betcha them little 6" rims would help your launch... . :D :D :D LMAO

Stefan,

The 315's will fit your 16x8 alloy wheels fine. I have seen a few guys around here that are running them with no lift, but they rub a bit on full steering lock. A 2" leveling kit will let you run them with no worries.

Are you looking for a faster top end at the track?

Just doing it for looks. If 35's will fit factory wheels I'm going to go that route. Does anyone have pictures with a 2' leveling kit and 35's I need to show my girlfriend cause she is wanting me to put a 4' lift.

2 1/2" Skyjacker

Hey Stephan,

I have the 2 1/2" lift from Skyjacker on my truck, that would be the top link in the post above. Stock rims will probably hit on the links. With the correct offset wheel you will only need a small lift with 315s.

Stefan,

You are going to have to reduce the tire pressure so you don't wear out the center of the tire. With my 305's I run 28# in the rear and 36# in the front and still wear out the center of the tire. They are on 8" wide rims. If I had it to do over again, I would really consider 10" wide rims. Of course this is running empty, not hauling anything.

By the way, Good seeing you last month!

And how in the hell did the tires wear out so fast

and

At least now Krystal can put on finger nail polish in the truck without Bill coming unglued :p

Sam,

I really like the look of your truck. With a 2' leveling kit and 35's I figure it should have a similar stance as yours. What do you figure.

Mike,

I did buy it, I just couldn't pass up the price. :D

Bob,

You know that krystal's the one behind wanting all this stuff. I will be calling Jason from northwest custom for my chrome fix. :D I am also looking at a hood that is real trick and even better know has it. :D

With evenone's help we can turn my poor old truck into a nice looking race machine. :D :D
