Met a good machinist that is interested in making billet aluminum shift towers for NV-4500's and NV-5600's but he wants to know how much interest there is in them. How many want one?

Why are you looking into the shift covers? is it for looks or have you been braking them? Now let's go a little farther if you have the towers made with the pivot point 1/2" or 5/8" higher and then extend the shift lever below the pivot by the same amount you will reduce your shifter throw 30% to 40%. The shift effort will also go up by the same %. Now how many 4500 and how many 5600 are needed? How much.

I'm just trying to find out if anyone else wants a more solid feel from the gearshift. Moving the pivot point to make a short-throw version should be easy enough. No idea on cost at this point. I dont like the mushy feel of the all plastic tower in my 5600.

A short throw shifterwould be great for when someone sits in the middle seat and for the lazy a$$e$ like me that skip gears to keep fromreaching;):)

I'd buy it!!

Texas Diesel,

Send me a PM with your phone number and what time I can call you, or you can call me anytime at (918) 810-7060, there are some things I would like to talk to you about on the shifters. I would be extremely interested in one of these but they need some features that most people aren't familiar with.

None yet but I can give you his email address if you want to ask him. We need a donor shift tower as a pattern, I have located one for a 4500 but not a 5600.

If I recall correctly there are two types of shift tower on the 4500. I think they changed it with the 24 valve.

I would like one for the early type... .

will these shifters have a positive stop for those in the drive-it-like-you-hate-it crowd?

I know MM and a few others would love to have a short throw positive stop shifter. for drag racing.

Ohh, this sounds gooood.

You've got another "maybe" here,, If the price is right. I can't stand the "Mop handle in bucket of crisco feel" of the stock shifter.
