So I bought this awhile ago

Billet Combo Kit

but I havent installed it yet. I got to looking at it the other day and realized there are no instructions. Are these parts I need to drop the transmission for or just the VB? Will it be obvious once I get in there?

I'm thinking its just the valve body. I had my trans out not long ago and for the first time had those very same parts out. I'm thinking that for what your doing its a matter of just taking the valve body out and not having to drop the trans. Hopefully some of our more experienced members will chime in.

Good Luck

Mike

well this was the description:
This kit contains the Dual Ring Servo and Accumulator Piston - for zero leakage, the quick ratio 4. 2 Band Lever, the unbendable HD Band Strut and, the billet Band Anchor - for positive band adjustment.

looks like all can be done via valvebody

The 4. 2 lever cant. the trans has to come out for that as the pipe plug in the bell housing has to be removed to get to the pivot shaft for it

Thanks Jon,

I noticed as I was looking at the service manual that was the case. In your opinion, are the 4. 2 apply lever benefits worth the effort, or should I just forgo that part and install the others?

What do you think Cerb?

Thanks Jon,

Yeah, glossed over the band lever and never thought about it. The OE lever is already good enough for most situations. Unless there is an overriding need to have an extra . 2 and the billet lever I would just leave the stocker in. Check the tip real well to see if there is an cracking or missing lip on it but if it looks good go with it.

The OEM lever ratio is 5:1 so you'll have less holding power with the 4. 2 but it will apply the band a bit quicker. I wouldn't put it in.

Transgo shift kit/TCS billet combo kit

Did the install yesterday; everything went relatively well except for the first hole I drilled for a firmer lockup was . 106 rather than . 083. It gives an option to drill 2 holes for an more firmer lock up but I went with 1 hole; just hoping the mistake of . 023 bigger doesnt make too much of a difference. The kit supplies some drill bits and not others; something didnt seem right after I drilled it so I pulled out my mic and... OOps!

I installed the front servo, accumulator, anchor and band strut; of course I wasnt about to drop the transmission to install the apply lever so I left it out, the original still looked great.

Of course, while I was in there, I adjusted the bands and now it is back together. I dont have enought ATF on hand to start it up and test it so i'll run to town this morning and pick some up. The biggest pain in my A** (besides the mess) was the park rod/sprag.

I did install a drain plug in the pan which should help me out when I drain it all again at the end of the month for anonther round of fresh fluid and filter at which point i'll seal it up with a new Mag-Hytec.

Saving up now for the new SC Govenor/solenoid conversion and Dtt Shift enhancer at which point my Trans should be good to go.
