trying to find bilstein 5100's for non lifted/leveled 2002 4wd.

everyone i've talked to says front has to be leveled(lifted) to use these.

are 5100's available for stock ride height front end?info appreciated. thanks, mike

I have bilsteins on all four. My truck is not lifted. They are the ones rated for over 8500#. Don't know if they are 5100s or not. They have yellow bodies and blue dust covers. So far I have warrantied one rear for leaking and one front bushing. No hassle warranty. I get them at auto zone.

SKargo, any issues with these?does the truck ride better? thanks, mike

No issues so far, I put them on at 100K, replaced my stockers.

It does have a better ride, especially compared to my old ones.

may i ask where can i find them?thanks, mike

I got mine through my work, but I have since heard of people getting them cheaper than I had gotten mine.

I think Geno's sells them IIRC.

5100's

:D You can buy them thru ajusa.com, they price match and will give you a great rate and free shipping to boot. I paid $285 for four 5100's.

went to ajusa... all 5100's they have are for lifted suspension... i don't believe

there are any 5100's for non lifted suspension... at least that i can find. just cant stomach the yellow on my truck... may get the yellow bilsteins and paint them black. if anyone has info on the 5100's in non lifted/non leveled version please let me know. contacted several of the premium suspension companies, the ones that replied just wanted to sell me a whole suspension kit... . i just want shocks (4)and maby a level kit for a reasonable price. don't seem to exist at a reasonable price. guess i'll just wait as i don't have alot of cash to work with... . thanks for reading, mike

Buy some d25 springs skyjacker for the front from offraodwarehouse using TDR discount this will level your truck and then go with the 5100's all the way around. This is what I have and it rides superbly.

Hi, I`m Gregg in Newfoundland canada, i got an 01 cummins ram 2500 like yours and i want to level it ,the front end is sagged from years with a snow plow i guess. i bought those rubber coil spring helpers that go under your stock springs and lift it 2 inches and i`m wondering if the stock shocks will handle the lift or will i need new ones, whats your opinion on this plan will i needlonger shocks? i have the air-bag system in the rear also will those need longer shocks? thanks, i`m new to this ha ha ha

Greg,

The stock shocks wont handle the lift, plus they are only good for about 75k. I went with skyjacker 2. 5" coils from offroadwarehouse(tdr discount) and bilstein stated above from AJUSA.com. I have airbags in the rear as well for heavy load support and level. Just ask ajusa for the shock by p/n otherwise they will sell you the yellow & blue bilsteins and not the 5100's. The fronts are 0-3" and the rears are 0-1" lift.

Well that just totally blows. . . I have the blue/yellow shocks on my '96 and have been quite disappointed with them. Put them on at 354,000 and by 365,000 the fronts were really soft and had a clunk from the Rt front. I tried to get them warrantied where I got them from - Offroad Warehouse. After forever they finally send my junker shocks back to me without any warranty coverage. I call them up and ask "what the heck??" and get a long story about how Bilstein puts them on their dynamometer and really tests them and don't warranty them unless they're truly bad. Well my were truly bad because the new ones I had to BUY and put on while waiting for the old ones to be warranteed made it ride like new. . . for awhile. It was around 370,000 I put these on and now at 403,000 they're pretty well done for. I don't exactly pamper this truck but these things should hold up better. I'm not wasting my time on Bilsteins or Offroad Warehouse next time because they won't accept that my badly performing shocks have a problem.

Anyway moral of the story, if you want the Blue/Yellow shocks get them from some place that will replace them no questions asked, otherwise the warranty is worthless.

I don't totally hold this against ORW, but they need to learn to understand when a customer is certain there is a problem with a product they ought to make an attempt to make it right.

Sorry, had to vent. . .

These are not the 5100's. The 5100's are silver with black boots.

If your looking for good coils, that look and perform better then D25's go here. They will custom build, to your specs, for about $50 more then D25's.

Sorry to hear that. My bilsteins have lasted well with off-roading and camper hauling. I bought mine at Autozone. The first leaker was replaced over the counter. I had the clicking too. It was the top nut loosening. I tightened them once. This hunting season, it was clicking again and getting worse. I found one of the top bushings had gone away. I replaced it in the field with my roll of electrical tape. Worked fine. At Autozone, I had to pay for a whole new shock to get the bushing and then get a refund when I brought the old one in. I think your problem is with the vendor not the manufacturer.

100% difference, I wish I would have done this a long time ago. AWESOME!!!

There is a day and night difference, beleive me... just got back from a 500 mile trip and it was almost as if riding in a TownCar
