I've read on this topic but cannot get a consensus on the front shock bushings for my stock 96 4x4. Does the tapered bushing go below or above the shock tower? I realize the metal sleeve goes on after the bushing is in place but not sure if the bushing is inserted above or below the tower. Thanks Anthony

Yes there are two bushings. One with a large hole in the center like a donut and one with a taper which fits in the other bushing. I don't know which one goes on top or under the shock tower. Not sure if it even matters. Anthony

There should be one bushing on each side of the shock tower. Shock, washer, bushing, tower, bushing, washer, nut. Hope that makes sense

It makes sense. I was just wondering if it mattered which of the two bushings go under the shock tower as the bushings are different from one-another.

The larger bushing should be on top. Im not for sure but the sleeve your talking about could be the "stopper" that keeps you from over tightening the bushings. Usually with these type of shocks there is a short little sleeve that goes inside of the "male" portion of the lower bushing. Maybe someone more familiar with bilsteins will chime in.

Rep from bilstein called me back. The male bushing goes under the tower, then insert sleeve, top donut female bushing, washer, and nut. I had it backwards. reversed it tonight. All is well. Thanks. Anthony
