Hi guys;

My brand new Bilstein 2549/2550 HO's showed up in the mail today.

Going to start the installation tomorrow morning after just applying WD40 to the bolts to let them soak until tomorrow... .

Anyway, the instructions that come with the shocks are beyond brutal - the pictures hardly even look close to the parts that come with it...

See the picture below - Have I assembled the upper end components properly? The metal bushing is over the bolt inside the rubber bumper, which you can't see in the picture obviously. I've tried to draw in the truck shock tower also for reference.

Thanks,

Shawn

Shawn, what you've drawn looks good to me - I picture what I see on my shock tower, and it looks the same as you've drawn.

I just had to AMEN you on what you said: the Bilsteins are great and the instructions are the pits !!

You'd be wise to make sure you do it correctly - last month I put em on the front of our '96 Ram Van, and due to the gibberish instructions (and my haste, to some extent), I omitted a crucial metal sleeve, which I had assumed was 'extra hardware'.

WRONG ! -The only consolation being, it was still on jackstands and the wheels were still off, but it still meant unbolting both sides for no good reason.

I wonder if there is an online guide with pics somewhere ???

Best Wishes, David B.

Thanks-

It was mainly that large washer location and the orientation of the rubber bumper that I was confused about, since the diagram they provide really doesn't show any relevant sizes - it's hard to tell what's what - as you know!

The rubber bumper in their diagram hardly resembles what they ship with it.

Also went out tonight to scope out the situation, and realized that I don't have a socket big enough for the through bolts. Is that a 7/8" socket?

Thanks,

Shawn
