I just put a set of Bilstiens on my truck. Wow! what a difference. I heard bilsteins are the best for towing. I don't know about your other brand. Never heard of them.

I have had my rear Bilsteins on for 6 months and the fronts on for 2 weeks and what a difference they make on the front---it's hard to tell what they do for the rear, but based on the fronts they must be great there also----with the Bilsteins if you hit a bump you return to ride ht instantly--no bouncing like I got with the Skyjackers---the braking characteristics are a zillion percent better--it 's hard to describe--but before my ABS would kick on at weird instances due to the front end dropping down when braking---that hasn't happened once since the new Bilsteins have been on-----of course some of this could be due to the fact that I now have 2 shocks at each corner vs 1 before---but I think the Bilsteins quality has a lot to do with it... ... . I vote for the Bilsteins... ... chris

I have had both the Bilsteins and KYB over the last 25 years. I think I bought my first set of KYB's in 1975. i believe you will find similar performance from both shocks, maybe a little lower price on the KYB's. Be sure to look for the KYB Gas-adjust model. Good Luck, Dave;)

I first tried KYBs on a 79 Chevy p/u. I tried all kinds of shock set ups on it including dual shocks. The KYB's were the best. I put KYBs on my next 2 Jeeps and I have Bilsteins on my present Cherokee. I think they are about the same. I want to put the Bilsteins on my truck.

CarTech or KarTech---I can't find the stinkin' Catalog they sent me---but here's the phone #909-737-7223 ask for Mike he's the shock guru---he'll want to know the extended length and compressed length of your shock----Bilstein gave me these guys phone #----chris

TGBOL; if they're essentially the same, why do you want to put the more expensive Bilsteins on your truck?

Another note, although probably unbiased: Shox Warehouse tells me that the Bilsteins are "hands down" better than the KYB's.

Now I've got to decide whether or not to cancel my KYB order!

every time I try to look up the KYBs for my 2001 2500 4x4 they say that the shocks are not available. I am sure that if I get a catalog I can find the shocks that would work. When I put the KYB's on my first Cherokee I had to us the units for a Toyota and change the mounting bar on them. I just don't want to get into a lot of hassle this time. The Bilsteins are available.

I bought my Bilsteins from the group purchase that they had here a couple months ago. I really like them. I think off road warehouse was running it. 54. 99 each if i remember correctly:)

KYB or Bilsteins

I learned about KYB in the early 70s for use on Volvos. I also know about Bilsteins too. KYBs are great shocks and I would put them on my truck any day but as far as I can tell... they are not available for a 2500 so, it's Bilsteins for me.

KYBs are way less money and, IMHO, almost as good a shock.

kyb's

I just found KYB's at driverfx.com for 41. 95. They list them for Dodge Ram 4x4 94-99. i would call them and verifi before ordering though. Make sure you look under the Gas-adjust model as the GR-2 is not a performance shock. i would most certainly buy them when I need them at that price, Dave D:)
