Does anyone know if Off Road Warehouse still gives TDR members a discount? If so what was the %..... ?

Thanks,

Doug

i will be ordering the bilsteins from auto zone. they show them at 49. 95 on thier website. it will take 1-3 days for them to show up at the store. i haven't found a better price and if one of them fails, the store is right up the street.

Thats where I bought mine, same thought process

I looked on Auto Zone's website and they show the heavy duty high GVW models BE5-2549 and BE5-2550 are $64. 95. I think I am going to purchase the 5100 series since I have put a leveling kit on my truck.

I'm expecting my HD Bilstiens BE5-2550 and BE5-2549 from Off Road Warehouse any day now, with TDR discount $ 243. 96 ($60. 99) each and that includes shipping to Colo. I couldn't find em any cheaper than that anywhere else. Call em 1-800-341-7757.

wandering Ram

I know this sounds crazy, but its true. I received my Bilstiens from ORW and put them on last night. I drove about 100 miles today and the wandering back and forth is gone! I was about to order a steering box bracket from Darin because I was sick of constantly having to steer right and left to go straight. I have 33k on my truck, so I knew the factory shocks were shot, but can't believe the new shocks made such a huge difference in steering. Anybody else experience this ?? BTW, same roads I always drive on.

:D Believe it, There are many suspension/steering BOMBs that change the driving experience drastically imo. Shocks are by far the most overlooked componant. The factory shocks are worthless when new and go downhill fast from there. If you want an even bigger improvement get rid of the stock tracbar for a DT tracbar.

My opinion on bang for the buck 4x4 suspension/steering BOMBs -

1) Shocks - Rancho adjustables or Bilstein. Also, dual shocks up front are necessary to overcome the weight of the mighty Cummins with softer, taller springs.

2) Tracbar - Tightens up the steering Pronto! DT, Lukes Link, etc...

3) Springs - Huge improvement! Skyjacker or National Spring and maybe others?. Don't overlook changing the rear springs, the front D25 Skyjacker coils help steering and ride, the rear leafs get rid of the ridiculous 5" lift block make a tremendous ride and handling improvement and get rid of wheel hop too.

4) Steering Box - Tessier steering box shaft brace. Have somone turn the steering wheel while you watch the output shaft of your steering box. The amount of slop in even a brand new steering box is surprising. Don't forget to do the steering box adjustments in the FSM either...

5) Steering damper - Factory piece isn't bad, but anything over 20K miles and you need a new one. They don't put those things on there for nothing...

6) Steering shaft - My stocker had 1/8" of play with only 30K on the odo, Flaming River or Borgeson make good ones imo...

7) Ball joints and tie rods - Have em checked every 50K miles.

Thanks Dane, at least I know I'm not imaginging this. Next will have to be a steering dampner and steering box bracket from Darin. That ought to do it for me.

Just ordered the rears from Offroad for $115. 00 and pennies, includes shipping.

Have one brand new Rancho 9000 w/ 5 adjustments, but cannot find a second one as they were discontinued.

Shipping Time

Hi, Just order a set through ORW and got the TDR discount. The guy on the phone knew the price and parts numbers without looking them up! He said he gets so many orders all the time that he has the info memorized!

Anyone know the time period for shipping to Nor Cal from San Diego? They're supposed to ship Monday.

Thanks,

Kent

I ordered Bilsteins from ORW one mourning and the shocks were on my door step the next afternoon. They must really have it together. I'm in norcal about 2 hours north of SF.

Well, it took two whole days, but they're here. Installed them this afternoon and what a difference! Truck is much less bouncy and more controllable on bumpy roads than before. I should have done this a long time ago. I can't wait to try them with my trailer in tow, it tended to porpoise a bit before and I think this should cure that problem.

One question to those who've installed Bilsteins. With the front shock, the upper rubber is different than stock, do you put the rubber below the tower and suck it through until the washer bottoms on the bushing? That's what I did and it seems to be right but I just wanted to be sure since all the instructions said was be sure to have installed by a qualified individual. I think I did, but want to be sure. :)
