Is anyone running the Bilstiens on the front and the stock shocks on the rear? I think that all four Bilstien shocks make an unloaded truck to rough of a ride. I put about 25000 miles a year on my truck with about 8000 miles with either a 12000lb fifth wheel camper or an 8500 enclosed car hauler behind the truck. Driving to work unloaded is a bit rough. I liked the stock ride but felt that the front shocks were not up to the task so I ordered the full set of Bilstiens but after putting on the rears a day later than the fronts I think that the rear shocks adversley affected the ride of the truck and was considering getting new stock shocks for the rear. What do you guys think??

They are firm, but don't really bother me. Drive on some fairly rough road going to and from work. It is only one of the roads I drive on to/from there. If I had to drive only on that road, I'd maybe think about something different, but so far, no biggie. I have been out as far as Minden, NE, and thought it rode really nice with the Bilsteins.

Not sure what it would be like for sure on a lighter truck though. With what I have in/on my truck, it is 920# heavier than when I bought it. 7920# now.

The OEM shocks I replaced were absolutely SHOT.

I agree.......

... ... . the ride is too rough. We just returned from a 1200 mile trip in my quad cab short bed 4x4 and the wife will never do it again. The Bilsteins beat the hell out of both of us. I may take them off and replace with Rancho adjustables. They may work on a longbed truck..... but on mine they are way too rough.

rode in a bilstien'd truck for about a week ... didn't like it all ...

put on a set of napa gas grandes 35$ a piece and lifetime warranty ... love the ride now ... but i don't tow

Have tried heavy duty shocks to replace my stockers and had them changed 5 times due to rough ride. Finally ended putting Bilsteins on the front and drove for a few hundred miles and changed out the back shocks to Les Schwab foamcell and installed Roadmaster suspension on the rear taking off the overload springs and it rides just like a car. 3/4 ton 4 wheel drive with canopy GVW 8200lbs. Shocks work great and rides great.

Gentlemen,

When you are running empty, if you haven't already, air those tires down. It took me about 1. 5 years before I finally accepted that one could run 35 or 40psi in the rears (empty, of course) safely.

Saves alot of wear and tear on the kidneys.
