I Dunno, The Guys around here do not seem to interessted. I and a buddy from work are going. He has a diesel Rabbit (the BIOionc Bunny), he'll fit in better with the hippie type than my Ram :D Regards, Mosse

BioDiesel

Great to hear interest is growing all over the country, and not only for "hippie types". My 02 CTD has been burning SOY fuel for 80K miles with ZERO problems even in below freezing weather. Engine runs smoother, MUCH quieter, no loss of power or mileage, and it smells so good! I mix my own and usually run a 50/50 mix to keep the cost down, but do run 100% occasionally with no differance other than cost. ($3. 20 a gallon), but with new tax incentives the price will drop and availability will go up.

When considering Biodiesel keep in mind it is made from crops grown by American farmers, not pumped up out of the ground someplace in the mideast. Nobody has ever died proctecting our Biodiesel supply!

Cheers,

Thom

Bio-Diesel Workshop

I went to the workshop, and learned a lot. The chemicals and what to do with the waste stuff put me off. There are the Glycerol’s (Brown Soapy Glop, laced with methanol), Lye, Methanol, and Water, contaminated with Lye and Methanol that need to be disposed of. You also get to play chemist for every batch. You need a 50-gallon hot water heater, a wash tank, two carboys, storage tank and a pump with filter. They need space, away from the kids. “Put that Lye and Methanol down, now!!!” :{ You do get good clean Diesel fuel in the end. :)

I think I am going to go with a “Hot tank” Grease conversion kit, VP-44 permitting!!! Oo.

Regards, Moose

PS a good site to check out is http://www.localb100.com/

Yea, making your own isn't going to be for everyone. But the good thing is that glycerol really is 'soap'... or one of the bases for soap anyway. The lye and methanol are catalysts. If you can get them back out, you can reuse them to make more! I'll be happy to run it in my truck when the price gets competitive.

i too have been running a 50/50 mix in my 98. 5 24v for the last 15k. alot of people tell me I shouldn't run any. Do you make it yourself and do you wash it? Mike at -- email address removed --

I'm down to B20 at this point due to the cold weather and since I don't have a dual fuel system yet, like the one on www.greasel.com I don't have much choice.

It was kinda of a bummer putting petroleum back in and going back to diesel pumps :( I should have that problem solved next year :)

Greasel.com is still down

Greasel.com is still down :( I did not take the opportunity to down load their "24-valve Cummins update!!! '98-1/2 and newer Cummins owners really need to read our service bulletin about their lift pumps bad habit of killing their injection pumps. " News flash!! If anyone has a copy please post it here or PM me, Thanks

I am planning a field trip to Greasecar over the holiday break, as he is right up I-91 from me. Oo. I'll let you people know if I learn anything interesting.

Last quick question, How does bombed engines run on WVO?
