Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) bio diesel

I know this has been hammered to death a few years ago. But they are selling "Propel" bio diesel down the street now for less than the local price for diesel. I believe it is B20.



Is there anything I need to worry about if I try some ? Any reason not to ?



BTW, I believe that the regular diesel that you buy here in Wash is up to 5% bio as it is.

My 97 loves well made B99 - B100 Biodiesel. It hates badly produced BioDiesel. (Don't buy from Craigslist, unless they can show it passes quality tests) If the stuff is ASTM certified, then go for it. Maybe ask to see the certification paper work.



The company I buy my BioDiesel from is ASTM certified, and better. And they will show you the paper work from a 3rd party for each and every batch they sell. Right now it's cheaper at Sirona Fuels than at any of my local Dino Diesel stations.



Come winter I will start blending 50% Dino to 50% B100.



My truck is so much quieter than when I burn Dino Diesel. Exhaust smells better, the pump is getting better lubricant, and it's reusing old fryer oil that gets converted to BD.

This company is blessed by the state of washington and ships bio diesel to europe, so its probably ok as far as bio d goes.

BD will clean out most crud in your tank, or hoses... since it's a very good solvent.

I have only seen test for cr fuel systems with B20. I would not put it in my truck. But i now afew people who love it... One of my family members ran some bio fuel from the co-op a few years ago and got 6 new eui.

Propel is good stuff. I have 10k miles on B75/B99 from the Ballard station. Gas mileage is a little worse but the truck runs so much smoother.

Testing is sooo important. I make my own and NEVER had any problems with it. I have friends that have been runnning their dodge on B100 for 4-5 years now and have had NO problems whatsoever. My old Chevy did not like it, but the old chevy's had crappy FI pumps. Cummins uses better quality seals. Oh and the crud you are seeing at your filters, that is Fungus. Boeing uses JP4, high grade diesel, and have to use boxibor in their fuel to keep the fungus from growing. Once you used about 2-3 tank fulls of BioD, and probably a couple filters, you should have no more problems, as fungus DOES not like high pH, and BioD has a high pH due to the process.

I've been running B10/B20 for the past 8 or 10 years now. Sometimes a little filtered waste engine oil or veg oil to boot. The Jetta is hitting 150K miles and 130K on the Dodge with no problems to date. They both still have OEM injectors.

I don't know what "Propel" is but wouldn't hesitate if it's a certified Bio-diesel.

BIO in DT466 RUNS GREAT BIO in DODGE RUNS good down on power down on mileage but THE FUEL SYSTEM IS CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN. make sure of your filters and have a few (IN) hand until you get it weened off of dino d . Will quit running it at end of month dont want winter problems.
