Last I checked it was around 3. 00 a gallon and you get like . 99 cents back at the end of the year. I haven't filled the paperwork out yet since I haven't gotten around to doing my taxes yet (they owe me so its ok).
used and cleaned 55 gallon drums I think are around $25.
If you know anybody who owns a car wash they may have a 65 gallon drum (pvc). Just wash it out, they're soap is shipped in it. SO lots of hot water.
Figure the fuel meister kit will run around 2500 bucks to make it yourself. Then you need to collect and filter. If you don't have a garage the used oil stuff will freeze fairly solid in the winter. You need to decide how much free time it will take to do this. Thats why I'm going with the veg oil kit. I can use B100 in the main tank until it gets cold.
The best to describe it is that I have taken the simplest issue in my life and made it the most complicated. But with fuel hitting 4. 00 a gallon soon and I use 1 tank a week. This is what it works out to.
at $2. 50 a gallon it's $3,900 a year in fuel
at $2. 75 a gallon it's $4,290 a year in fuel
at $3. 00 a gallon it's $4,680 a year for fuel
at $3. 50 a gallon it's $5,820 a year in fuel
at $4. 00 a gallon it's $6,240 a year in fuel
and then the fun begins... . if we start shooting at Iran they say $6. 00
at $6. 00 a gallon its $9,390 a year
if we nuke (improbable) Iran they say figure on $9. 00 a gallon (but at least it solves the middle east question)
at $9. 00 a gallon it's $14,040 a year for fuel. It is at this point we all pray for diesel powered Vespa's
But I've been thinking about your situation and veggie oil is somewhat a pain. And why I didn't respond immediately. If you went with a veggie oil kit. $2,500 and you install it. You could run B100 all year and get the tax credit back.
Lets assume you have a 30 gallon tank.
Frybrid "91 Gallon Screw Opec Uber Kit"=$2,500
one year of 52 tanks of B100 and refund=$3,120
total=$5,620 for the first year.
and the year 2007 B100 use would still be $3,120
and the year 2008 B100 use would still be $3,120-last year of the refund I believe.
So thats $11,860 total cost for 3 years if Marty's B100 goodness stays at $3. 00 and you still get to keep the kit for vegetable oil use.
If #2 averages $3. 00 a gallon you'll pay $14,040 for three years worth of fuel.
If you go the Fuelmeister route its $3,000 for the kit
. 75 cents gallon to make B100 its $1,170 a year or
$6,500 for 3 years NICE!!
If you go the veggie oil route which you have to do for FuelMeister anyway
its $2,500 for the kit and a few hundred dollars for three years for starting on #2 and filters for the grease... ... . But its the most time consuming.
It kills me I don't have a farm. I have a hook for 300 gallons a week of used vegetable oil from April to October from Seaside Heights
Or we can pray for the Bird Flu and hope for a glut to drop #2 prices
