Biodiesel Pump in NH opens

Found a local BP station that sells B20 blend of Bio Diesel fuel. Is it ok to run it in a 12 v CTD? Should I expect a differance?? Will it prevent fuel gelling?

Thanks!

Hi Clayton,

Yes, it's perfectly safe. I run B100 in mine during the warmer weather. Running about B20 now.

There will be a few differences.

Different exhaust smell.

Less soot under power(up to 70%).

Maybe lower mileage (varies with users, mine goes down with B100 but is highest with nearly any mixture)

More white smoke on cold starts for a few seconds.

It will definitely NOT lower gel points. It raises them, but not enough to worry about at B20 levels. (Edited, I wrote B100 instead of B20 by mistake)

Injector and pump lubrication go up significantly.

I ran a tank of B20 BioDiesel, could not tell any difference in power, maybe alittle less smoke and diesel smell. Considering the lubrication benefit I would like to run B20 all the time. I have not had enough experience with Biodiesel to comment on gelling.
