Bio diesel

Making Biodiesel on "Trucks"

As far as I know, you are permitted to use up to B20, but anything higher than that is a "use at your own risk" kind of thing. I think there are a couple people here using higher concentrations without any trouble, but B20 is all Cummins will let you run.

Do a search for "biodiesel". Just a couple days ago someone posted a notice from Cummins (I think) that talked extensively about this.

DC and Cummins both repeat the Diesel engine manufactures association statement, which is basically we are sure B5 is fine, but we don't have the data to support higher levels. That position hasn't been updated for several years as far as I can tell, so is likely outdated.

A stock vehicle running B20 is considered by the EPA as an alternative fueled vehicle, so there are lots of fleets running that blend. I assume if there was a big issue we would have heard something.

All that said, HPCR injection is fairly new, so much of the long term data is probably from pre HPCR systems.

DC is filling Jeep Liberty diesel's with B5 at the factory

I run B20 in mine and it runs well. All the Dodge's, Chebby's, and Jeep Liberty's locally run B20 off the lot because that's what the nearest pump has.

Same here RH---ran 2 tanks of b1oo last summer---ran fine---exhaust smelled like burger king---lost 1. 2 mpg---1 extra fuel filter almost immediatly upon 1st tank.

One of the things about Biodiesel is it's apparently a very strong solvent (much more so than #2). A tank of B100 will clean out your entire fuel system, frequently to the demise of a fuel filter or two.
