TDI Questions

This could be a fun one

I pulled into the Whole Foods Supermarket parking lot by my house last night and sitting in the lot is the Impala with the Duramax they built on the tv show Pimp My Ride. I didn't notice it was the diesel until I saw the PPE sticker on the side, the owner was sitting there waiting for his wife to come pick him up. I snapped a couple pics with the camera in my phone while it was being loaded onto the flatbed, the guy said the starter was bad, but he also looked like he knew nothing about cars let alone performance diesel engines. I think this Impala has a built 800hp duramax in it, on the show they said it goes from 0 to 60 in 3 seconds.

Yeah, I saw that episode acouple times, guy didn't sound like he knew anything mechanical, let alone diesels. Would like to see the maintanence he'll do down the road:rolleyes: Looked like a sweet car, but definitely a HUGE publicity stunt... . :-laf

Well I guess it was a publicity stunt, but it is still a bit of good press for diesel power in general, I think alot of people still associate diesel with black smoke, loud and slow. This car was beautiful to see in person, the pictures really don't do it justice, didn't get a chance to look under the hood unfortunately. The guy said it was for sale, I told him I probably couldn't afford it, I have a feeling the guy doesn't know what its worth.

On the TV it looked to be a work of art... beautiful paint, just the right stance, would love to have it myself... .

I read an article on it in some mag while I was in the doctors office. It said said they got to 800 HP just by switching to Biodiesel!
